BEFORE & AFTER / SOUTH OF FRANCE APARTMENT
BEFORE & AFTER / FRANCE APARTMENT: I wanted to share our home renovations over the last few years that started with our little apartment (527 s.f.) in the South of France. We purchased it just before COVID and it proved to be very challenging since it was our first renovation. We hired a contractor just before the…

Do you have any renovation regrets?
Hi, Apartment Therapist community! I'm AT's home projects director, coming to you with a Q that I think many of us can relate to: If you've done a renovation in the past few years, is there anything that you regret? I'm working on a story on renovation regrets and would love to get your thoughts! I'm focusing specifically…

What to do with this large attic guest bedroom/entertaining space?
Hey there! I'm hoping for some help with designing my large open attic space. We moved in recently and are renting from friends, so we have lots of agency to make the space our own. Right now, as you can see, we use one side for work, and then we have a big open space in the center where we will place a sleeper sofa and…

Front Porch Ideas?
Hi! My poor front porch is in need of some assistance. I plan on trying to power wash the brick and generally cleaning it up. But any ideas for giving it more curb appeal? I was kind of thinking about painting the alcove walls and maybe even painting the tile in front of the brick?

Kitchen face lift
I live in a small efficiency with one of the world's smallest kitchens and it is in need of a face life. Other than new appliances (planning stainless for stove & dishwasher) and new floors, and hardware for cabinets, I don't know what to do to make it look less dated. My cabinets are in great shape so I am on the fence…

If you could wave a magic wand & have one home project completed for you, what would it be? 🪄
For me, I would have to choose our upstairs bathroom renovation. It's a pretty major project that my husband and I have been putting off, mainly because of costs and we already have a bathroom downstairs so it doesn't feel totally essential. I think we'll finally get started in the spring, but it would be so nice to have…

I want to hear your funniest design stories!
Does any particular story come to mind? For me, thinking about my husband and I renovating our kitchen cracks me up. We were very naive and optimistic about doing the work ourselves. I wanted to record everything to document the process and pretend to have my own little home reno show. When we started tearing down the…

What's a design hot take you stand by? 🔥
I'll go first: I love open shelving in kitchens. Yes, things get dusty, but I don't mind a little extra cleaning to be able to see what's in the kitchen. What's your hot take? P.S. Be nice! We're not yucking anyone's yum :)
