Hello everyone!
I'm starting uni in few months and I will be moving into a shared apartment. I want to transform the room there, but I'm running out of ideas fast. I tend to jump back to old ideas of mine, but I would like to hear your ideas and perspectives. This room is around 16m2, but it has to fit many things that I will be using. - This is an "all purpose space" as this room will serve as my bedroom, office, pantry and living room. (There is a kitchen and a bathroom is also too, but I might not be able to store anything there as they are shared)
Main points to consider:
➡️The window is west facing, so the room is bright in the afternoon, but I still need to add light to the room, as the door will be shut most of the times, and it might feel too dark.
➡️I want to install some kind of storage besides the wardrobe, as I might need to store things that don't fit into the spaces that I will share with my flatmate (eg.: kitchen and bathroom equipment).
➡️ I will probably be very busy with uni, so I want to build a room that is easy to dust and clean up. I can be a clean freak sometimes, but I want to make it easier for me to clean, so I want to avoid small abstract surfaces that are hard to clean.
➡️ I want to create a space that is: friendly, warm, free of visual clutter, cozy and practical
➡️Having plants is a non-negotiable for me
The colors on the pictures are NOT correct, they are there to visualize the space.
The style I want to follow is a mix of modern and japandi - I'm not a fan of the wabi sabi concept that is prominent is japandi, but I adore the pastel beige colors. I want to keep the beige and green color palette, but I'm open to suggestions.
I am willing to buy a few pieces of furniture, but I cant do anything with the color of the walls or the floor.
What do you think of this layout? Can you think of a better way to furnish this room? Please share your thoughts with me. <3
This picture above is how the room looks like now. Everything is life-size.
This is how I imagine this room could look like, but I feel like I'm missing something
