BEFORE & AFTER / SOUTH OF FRANCE APARTMENT
BEFORE & AFTER / FRANCE APARTMENT: I wanted to share our home renovations over the last few years that started with our little apartment (527 s.f.) in the South of France. We purchased it just before COVID and it proved to be very challenging since it was our first renovation. We hired a contractor just before the pandemic. After that, he was on his own because it was impossible to go back to France to check the renovation progress during the pandemic. There's so much to share about this renovation that was our first ever and trying to manage it from the States would certainly prove the biggest challenge of all. The renovation took one year. My friend in France is an architect (V.D. Designs) she made the plan for the contractor. I wanted to keep with the original owners style which, in my opinion, was the true Bohemian style because they globe-trotted the world and brought back unique pieces from Asia, Africa, Bali, etc. They left many of the vintage pieces for us including two gorgeous Peacock Emmanuel chairs from the 1960's. Other artwork, I painted myself with the exception of my beautiful painting over the dining room table that we purchased in Pézenas which is the known for their brocanteurs (antique sellers). Pézenas was also the home of the French playwright, Molière who lived in the 1600's. Anyhow, pictures speak a thousand words. I have more pictures on my Instagram of this renovation and our South Florida renovations. Instagram: pisces2_21

Wow! Beautiful work, and what a feat to have managed this during the pandemic. It looks so relaxing and airy now, and I definitely feel the bohemian style infused throughout. How often do you get to spend time there? Or are you there full-time now?

Thank you. We are just there part time because we work in South Florida. My husband would love to retire back to his home so maybe one day we will do that!

Small world — I’m from south Florida! Well that’s so lovely that you have this home in France to enjoy. Please share more updates or photos when you go back so we can vicariously live through you ☺️

@user2579736 This is an amazing transformation! I love the floors and it looks like there is so much more light in the space. I especially like the dinning room and the table against the wall. I love the clear lucite chairs and the bench that allows you to push the table again the wall. And the painting over the table is stunning, it really makes the space. Congratulations!
