We are strongly considering embarking upon the upgrade of one set of our Georgian outhouses here on the south coast of Ireland and I’m not convinced whether I need encouragement or to be talked out of it!
Likely looking to convert the original scullery, kitchen and dairying parlour into a self contained one bedroom (maybe an extra mezzanine?) apartment.
I’m equal parts tentatively excited and absolutely terrified.
We survived our farmhouse reno over the past four years so that’s something but … anyone have experience of a similarly challenging project??
Go one step at a time or it becomes overwhelming very quickly. I'd also plan and redesign everything in 3d before making any changes.
WOW! I can't say any of my renovations have felt quite this involved, but I'm always intrigued by a design challenge 😆 I would realistically consider your timeline and any upcoming life plans to see how this would affect them. Do you need to tackle this right now? Are there other projects you would like to get involved with beforehand? Do you have friends in similar boats? I selfishly want to tell you yes so we can follow along, but I would consider all the above, and of course, your budget, to get to the best decision for you
I think it would be gorgeous. It would take a lot of work, but what a great idea.
