What should we do with this wall?
We live in a 1914 craftsman and want to add some additional bookshelves in our living room. We are looking into modular systems but not sure what to do here. The wainscoting goes up to 26.5" and we'd prefer not to drill/mount anything on it. Love some ideas!

Very indecisive: Recently sanded these beams down to their natural beauty. Question is should I paint them white to make the room appear wider or brush a honey oak stain to match the floor or use a clear urethane?? Thanks f0 r the tips!
