Re: Decluttering
I find working on little bits at a time helps me. I don't have much time to work on it and it is overwhelming to think of it as one big job. Start somewhere you KNOW you can declutter so you can start with a win. Maybe clean out the medicine cabinet, disposing of expired meds, makeup and beauty products, along with with things you know you won't use. Or maybe clean out your "tupperware" matching bowls and lids and discarding orphans. Or since you mentioned socks, matching up pairs and tossing out worn and mismatched socks. I think success breeds success, once you start doing things and seeing a difference, it makes you want to do more.
As for organizing, that's more personal. My advice is put things where you would use them and keep like things together. Since you are looking at doing your whole house know that the spot you find for something today might not be its forever home during this process.
Unique way to create privacy for large window?
I'm moving into a new apartment and there's floor to ceiling windows which is great, but it's on the second floor so it's pretty exposed to people on the street. There are built-in blinds from the top of the window, but during the day, I wont want those closed as I'd like the natural light to come in. What are some ways I can add privacy from the ground up to right near that window bar without blocking too much light?
I was thinking either one of those window privacy films or some type of window shutter that I can put on the bottom portion of the window. Any other ideas?
My ideas are either window shutters-
Or some type of film-

Re: January Cure 2026 Discussion
When I put my house up for sale, because of my schedule I gave the realtor the ability to show my house whenever. This caused me to have it showroom ready when ever I left. I came to enjoy having little on display. It made for easy cleaning and tidying.
I lost that when I moved into my new home. I slowly regained as I learned how to let go of the excess. I had a permanent out box for donations. I set a timer for 15 minutes and slowly worked through each portion of my home. Sometimes I could go for longer, but sometimes barely made the 15 minutes. But each time made progress. Sometimes I had to do a few passes before I had it were I wanted it . I would save the emails from the Cure and would use them as tools to work on my basemen or my garage.
Re: January Cure 2026 Discussion
Thanks so much! My plan is to move to Costa Rica. and no, I do not speak fluent Spanish. I thought that might be an obstacle for me but NO! The people are amazingly friendly and helpful, and there are a lot of English-speaking people there. The beaches are pristine and even in the touristy areas, I always feel at peace. Anyway, that's my story. Daniela, I really appreciate all the good tips, tricks and ideas here! Very helpful!

I wish you all the very best and I know you will soon have your home looking and feeling exactly the way you imagine! Adios for now. 😊
Re: Does anyone have an IKEA SALTSJÖBADEN?
@user4544642 that definitely looks weird and when I look at the site it is definitely not intended - as you can see in their 3D model.. The video is hard to see.
BUT Ikea is famously uniform, so if it's happening with you, it's probably happening with every single sofa like this and should definitely be flagged.
I'm going to email someone I know there right now and see what they say. :).
New-build apartment layout redistribution
Before anything else, we want to thank you for your help. We would like to modify the floor plan of this new-build apartment by turning three adjoining bedrooms into two more efficiently sized ones. The apartment is on the ground floor, and we want all the bedrooms to have access to the rear terrace, which should be feasible.
Additionally, in the main suite we are considering closing the current entrance from the hallway so that access is through the dining room instead, allowing us to create a larger walk‑in closet. We would also appreciate help with the layout of the kitchen–dining area, as the dining table is positioned right in the middle of the entrance to the dining room, which feels odd to us.
We would like to extend the kitchen with more cabinetry for storage and have the island include a dining area. Three people will be living in the apartment, although we may eventually be one more.
If anyone can help us, we would be eternally grateful.
