what a lovely room - the painted brick and paneling are great. I wouldn't mind the grooves either. love the stove
Re: How to make bathroom feel warmer
Hi @sheron4073 Please do share a pic of your bathroom.
I also agree that textiles on floor, curtain, shower curtain, towels can easily warm up even the coldest of spaces.
Warmth comes from two places: warm colors and soft textiles. You can do both, and art can also help here.
To give you some inspo, I pulled a link from our archive of bathroom photos that might help out: These are rustic, traditional and farmhouse style bathrooms. :)
More behind the link!
Re: Painting Paneling
I didn't mind the grooves. They're not that obvious when they're painted over.
Re: Unique way to create privacy for large window?
All the suggestions are great, but I would say the simplest solution and really nice looking is a privacy film on the lower panel windows… I've done this a lot and it is foolproof and easy to put on the windows. This is the version I've purchased three times…
THEN I would try to squeeze in some soft semi-sheer curtains that will give a little privacy, but also warm up the room and absorb sound from the outside.
Congrats on your new home!
Re: Painting Paneling
grooves didn’t show that much but ours were hard to cover bc of color.
filling them was just tedious and long but maybe bc we were new at it:))
I am glad we did it but now that paneling is coming back in style, just more colors to select from!
Your room is great !!! A comfy scenery and relaxing:)
Our woodstove saved us tons of electricity and still haven’t used our heaters at 15 degrees:))
Re: Painting Paneling
I've painted 4 rooms with paneling in my 1970s ranch house. The most important steps are 1. Clean and lightly sand the surface and 2. Use a bonding primer like Kilz or Gripper. Depending on your particular paneling, you might need 2 coats of both the primer and top coat. Mine came out really well and was a huge improvement. The power of paint!
Re: Painting Paneling
we also painted our 1970 house of paneling and believe it or not, it was cheaper to just put Sheetrock over it and paint.
Paneling has the grooves so we had to fill in and prime three coats!
We had the Blacksmith Pine color, the darkest espresso you could find with black undertones, a hard dark color to convert:)
I was so lethargic and tired bc too depressed and too dark!! I am so happy we did but again, invest in the 1/4 sheet of sheet rock twice as easy, quicker cheaper and better!!
