✨ Five Steps to a Cosy Landing Library — Just in Time for the Seasons Ahead ✨
The landing library is finally finished and just in time to enjoy these in-between days as summer begins to slow and the first hints of autumn quietly creep in. This space came together slowly and thoughtfully and it’s become one of my favourite corners of the house.
Here’s how we brought it to life:
- Open up the space
Once a boxed-in room, we removed the wall and let the landing breathe. Light, calm and finally usable. - Let texture lead
A jute runner from @etsy sustainably sourced , ties into a gently worn antique rug. Nothing matches but everything belongs. It feels collected, not coordinated. - Embrace natural textiles
Heavy linen curtains from @anthropologieeu soften the front door , while lambswool, angora and sheepskin from @yaya .thebrand & @spiritandluxury on the window seat bring real warmth and comfort . - Hack what you have
Seven old @ikea Billy bookcases were primed , painted black and trimmed. The desk is from @flanagankerins — solid, simple and perfect for this nook. - Layer lighting and make it personal
An @anglepoise lamp — the first thing I bought when we agreed to switch homes with Jer’s parents — anchors the space. A few @sahara .ie baskets on the wall add quiet texture and interest.
This wasn’t a quick makeover and I wouldn’t change that. The slow layering of art, colour, light and comfort made it what it is — a space that truly feels like ours.
🕯️ Let your home evolve slowly. Start with one thing you love and build from there.
