Hello community. I need some help with choosing the right chairs for my new table. It is quite high, so one challenge I have is that the back is often too low and same for seating. I want something interesting with clean lines. Some pictures of my actual dining room. As well, my new table from CB2! I can make some changes in the rest of the decor to accomodate another style if needed. Any thoughts?

Hello. When you say your new dining table is quite high, do you mean higher than the common 28”-30”? I like the chairs you already have.

Love the new table! I've had your chairs before (are they from Article?), and I know what you mean about the height. It looks like your new table is 30" tall, so you'll want your chair seat to come up anywhere between 18-23". I really like that your existing chairs bring color into your space. Are there other colors you feature around the house that you can pull from for the dining room color story? My mind immediately went to Windsor or Bentwood-style chairs in a cheery color mixed with rattan or other woven materials to tie in your light fixture:

Here are some options to get your wheels turning:

It's 30". My previous table was 28". I find it the two extra inches make it more difficult to find the right chair.

Thanks Daniela, love your suggestions. I would have some art that would fit very well with these beautiful warm tones. That said, I wonder if I should not go for a colder color - I feel my table has cool undertones?

I'd say it depends on whether you want to create more of a contrast between the table and chairs. It's a personal preference, but you can't go wrong if you love it! You can always create a mockup in Canva or even Google Slides to see how different colors feel next to the table

First, is your new table the fairly classy one preceding your question, or that gross faux antique on two pedestals? If the former, I would suggest the maker made it especially high so that YOU could adjust the height to suit your own desires (get a saw). As for chairs, I have two considerations that precede aesthetic considerations with dining chairs, 1. can it be lifted and moved with one hand, and 2. is there a suitable handhold to enable you so to do? As for aesthetics, if its a natural wooden table, it needs natural wooden chairs. The room itself looks fine, maybe, change the lampshade, but what do I know?

Go warm! Your new table is lovely and has a warm wood tone that I would recommend building on. It will transform your dining room in a way that your current table and the blue, fiberglass chairs never could.

I know this is alot but I'm going to share the board I started when I built my house and looked at a lot of chairs. Maybe something here will catch your eye too!
