Small Bedroom

Hello everyone! This is my newly painted bedroom with my new bed. It’s a really small room (the picture has basically the whole room in it). I was wondering if you guys have any ideas or furniture recs. I would love to find a bookcase, a chair, and a bedside table. I’m going for an eclectic, slightly boho vibe and I’m planning on a gallery wall on the long wall. Where you do think a bookcase would be best? Thank you so much guys!

  • Where the trunk is now is where I would put a low bookcase. Next to is a single dining room chair that is not upholstered. The gallery wall dos not feel like it would work in this room. It would add more claustrophobia.

Your room already has such a cozy, moody vibe I love the dark walls and the vintage rug! Since space is limited, I’d go for functional furniture that still adds character.

Bedside Table: Something small but unique, like a vintage trunk or a round wooden table, would fit the eclectic/boho vibe. A floating shelf could also work if floor space is tight.
Chair: A rattan or upholstered accent chair in a warm tone would complement the space beautifully. Maybe near the foot of the bed or next to the bookcase for a cozy reading nook?
Lighting: Layered lighting will really enhance the atmosphere. A warm-toned bedside lamp, fairy lights, or even a wall-mounted sconce could add depth and coziness to the space.
Your vision for an eclectic, slightly boho vibe sounds amazing, and I can already see it coming together. Can’t wait to see how it turns out!

I love a slanted ceiling like this — it makes the bedroom feel so cozy. Embrace the quirks of the room! I would add bookcases along the short wall to the right when you walk in. You can use IKEA'S Besta unit to achieve this look without going custom

Other ideas: Add a Roman shade to your window for some texture and a big rice paper shade above your bed for warmth. You can use decor to lean into the boho/eclectic look. I think a gallery wall would be great to add some of your personality to the room too!

Wow — visions of a Victorian governess living in a garret! What a great little room. Love the rug!

I would put bookcases, a reading lamp and a reading chair either on the low wall under the slanted ceiling, or to the right of the door as you enter (so they won't be visible on first glimpse, but will be visible from the bed), with a reading chair/lamp and table (or the trunk) nearby. Since you can't really stand comfortably under the slanted ceiling, that wall seems like the right place for low storage pieces and seating that can make use of the space.

Bedside table(s) could be almost anything — small pieces with shelves or drawers, if you need storage (always handy near the bed), or a wall-mounted shelf, if you need to make the room look airier (not covering the floor will make the space look larger), or both — a mounted shelf with a basket/chest/other storage piece under it.

I would paint a mural, or hang a large poster, some gorgeous wallpaper, or a tapestry of some sort on the slanted ceiling, so you could look at it from bed. That would make me happy!

Having said all that, I think this is a "less is more" space — I think you shouldn't fill it up with too much stuff — the spareness is part of the charm.

    Have fun!

To learn into the boho style add texture and fabric. Look for an interesting wooden chair or stool to use as a bedside table , try a thrift store. Get a wall sconce by the bed and one on the tall wall for cozy reading.Try a lace panel or a bamboo shade on the window and look for one of those printed bead spreads from India to add to the bed or hang on the wall. I love your chest where it is so think about putting a tall bookcase on the tall wall with your gallery on either side. They have some interesting poofs and floor pillows at some of the home goods stores, you could put some to trunk and move and move them around for a cozy reading space.
