My entry nook needs SOMETHING

This is the space as you enter my small apartment (opposite the kitchen). I would love some ideas on how to maximize the space with storage without it feeling overwhelming as soon as you walk in. My style combines modern with a bit of glam x industrial.

Access to the side walls is needed for the light switch and intercom.
I'm considering hanging the art below in this area. It would take up at least half of the wall's width.
The bar cart can be placed elsewhere or eliminated.

Oh I love this piece of art! And it feels fitting that you can see it from the kitchen. I would move the bar cart elsewhere to utilize that space. Could it fit somewhere near the living room/kitchen for hosting? I suggest using wallpaper or paint to make this entryway feel more like its own little zone, and then get a slim bench with storage to put alongside the wall. You can store your shoes, umbrellas, etc (anything you'd need before you're on the go). I have a bench in my entryway and I really like having a place to sit down and deal with my shoes and de-layering, especially in New York winters haha. I would add hooks to hang coats on the small wall where the intercom is. You can use it to hide the intercom if it bothers you, and it would still be easy to reach (just slide your coat aside). If you need even more storage, you can install a long shelf higher up on the wall and place baskets with your belongings. Here's a mockup I made to show you:

Greenery always makes a dull space feel better, if you have the room for it. Alternatively, you could find a big mirror to hang in place of the art to reflect light from the kitchen and make the space feel larger. Or you can find a smaller mirror to add to the artwork you have selected and make it more of a gallery wall moment. Lots of possibilities, but with a bench, hooks, and baskets, you should have ample room for storage!

All of the above….And add a slim set of shelves up the wall beside the light switch to hold smaller baskets of hats, gloves, scarves with hooks under the lower shelf or eilse hooks attached to it for drippy umbrellas, with a narrow pan of pebbles on the floor to catch the drips.

Daniela's idea is dope. Agreed about the bar cart. Another idea could be a smaller bench with shelving underneath, and above the bench you add wall mounted coat hooks. With the remaining space you can put a tall standing shoe cabinet (like the Hemnes model from Ikea, tho there are plenty online in different styles). These shoe cabinets have room on top for decor - where you can place the print as well as a trinket dish for keys. I had a shoe cabinet in my tiny West village studio and it was such a great storage solution. I attached a pic from Pinterest that would be very easy to replicate and fit in the space you're working with.

For your entry nook, it would be best to move the bar cart to the living area, as it would be great for hosting. You can add a slim table or a shoe rack and definitely include some decor with that art piece its fabulous and ofc a few hooks. Adding some plants or flowers would also work well.

I like the others' ideas, but I don't think you have enough depth for a bench. Instead, a small, interesting chair placed underneath the intercom could serve as a space to put on/remove shoes. I would take advantage of the perpendicular wall to hang at least one shelf - this can even have a basket or two on it for gloves and soft hats. Under the shelf you could have hooks for coats. Below that on the floor you could put a sizeable basket for shoes, which keeps them out of sight and looks cute. You could put a small mirror on the intercom wall to check how you look when you are about to go out the door. Above the shelf you could have some artwork. It's a small space with big possibilities!

the ikea shoe cabinets on the back wall with a mirror above it could work really well. I also liked Daniella’s idea of a bench if space allows. As well as her suggestion of a collorful statement wall if that fits your design style.
