Bathroom Refresh

Hello, everyone!

I've recently taken over my parents' old house and I can finally do something about this bathroom. My mom's given me free reign to do whatever I want, which is awesome! I really don't like the color of the walls and have been dying to do something about it, but the problem is that I hate painting, so I want to see if it's possible to redo the bathroom to make it look good enough that the color isn't a problem for me. There's a chance I'll still paint over the current color because I'm really not a fan lol (it's a brighter blue in person, the picture dulls it down a bit), but I want to save it as a plan B. Does anyone have any ideas that aren't crazy expensive?

So fun that you get to makeover this space! I know painting can be a pain, but if you really don't love this color, you'll probably still want to change it after you make any updates here 😅 Plus, paint is generally an expensive way to change up the feel of a room

If you really don't want to deal with that yet, I would suggest creating a gallery wall and finding fun artwork that speaks to you. Basically cover the walls with things you love! I would also swap the light fixture for something that's not chrome to create some contrast with all the chrome fixtures in there. Get warm bulbs to create a more ambient feel. Change up little things like wall hooks, hardware, etc. And you can always add personality and color through shower curtains and bath mats

What design style do you tend to gravitate toward? Happy to send over some shopping links or other suggestions based on that!

To tone down that blue, you could add a stripe pattern, using painter's tape to define your edges. It is a bit bright. Or, you could just embrace it by getting a gorgeous shower curtain that may contain a tiny bit of that color for continuity. Those floors are gorgeous, so that could inform your color choices. If you are on a budget, you could spray paint the light fixture and the mirror frame, again, coordinating with whatever color/colors you introduce. A small, fun rug would be cute in there. I really like the idea of making it a mini-art gallery; that's what I did in my powder room. Above the tiles, I painted the walls black, and art against it looks spectacular. Good luck to you in this exciting project!

Judith, do you have photos of your powder room? That sounds so fun and could be some great inspiration here!

In the meantime, I found this bathroom gallery wall that could get some ideas rolling 💡
