I recently redid my living room wall with family heirloom pictures and some of my favorites. I’m just not sure if it looks well put together. Thoughts? Constructive criticism/ feedback welcome 🩷
I love an eclectic gallery wall — great job! When I'm styling a gallery wall, I try to keep some balance between all the pieces, even when I'm mixing different sized frames. I noticed you have a lot of the larger frames on the right side (and the majority of small ones on the left). What if you mixed it up a bit more so the larger sizes were laid out throughout? I think that would make it feel less heavy visually on one side. Or maybe it's as simple as adding some more tiny frames to the right 😊
balance
….I was having doubts abt mine, too
Move the largest piece all the way to the left. Balance the remaining pieces to its right, keeping the oval shapes towards the middle. You can try laying it all out on a table or the floor until you come up with an arrangement that pleases you. I LOVE that these are all significant to you ❤️
The largest piece hogs all the attention. I would paint the frame to better harmonize with the other frames
@Blonderussian side note: Where do you find all these cute tiny frames? 💛
Ooh…I am sorry to say this is not ideal IMO. Please do not take offense! I'd love to offer some thoughts. First: think shapes! Draw a mental border around the shapes you have formed with the frames on either side of the main piece in the middle. What are the shapes, and are they pleasing to the eye? Second: think happy families. Which frames would love to live with each other?
I feel like the landscape art belongs somewhere else, as it is nice enough and not following the concept of family documents and images.
I would keep the dark frame on the large, central piece, but would suggest changing the gold frames to one of these three: silver, black, or the bare wood color. IMO, the gold ones are not helping with cohesion. I feel that by having those three frame options, the shapes and relationships you will build would look pleasing. I didn't see where you posted an update photo, it's been a while. Thanks for letting me offer my 2 cents.
