Kitchen update in a rental

We just finished an update to our rental kitchen that hasn't been updated since the building was built in 2007 and quite honestly even then there were no design decisions. It felt like it was whatever was least expensive was picked.

We took down the cabinets to sand, prime, and paint with a beautiful Sherwin Williams gray/blue satin paint. Rehung those and changed out the hardware from dated chrome bars to brass handles. Then we used Pole-Wrap walnut slats that I sealed with a beeswax based wood sealant to keep the natural wood look but protect it from splatters. We used Gorilla double stick tape so we didn't need to take out the iridescent green/blue/brown tiles beneath. This can also be removed so it is renter friendly. Final touches in a warm yellow rug with blue thin stripes to cover the tile floor and a modern Dutch style wall lamp to add extra light over the peninsula.

Before/After/Details included.

Stunning! I'm a sucker for anything yellow. The cabinet paint is also *chef's kiss.

Really nice. Like the backsplash idea. And it looks so neat!

Jennifer, I love this transformation! Just a few upgrades and the whole feel of the kitchen has changed. It feels much brighter now with the new cabinet color and backsplash. Did you happen to take any photos of the backsplash process? I'd love to hear more about that

@jennifer59070 Love the backsplash! Echoing Daniela, would love to know more about the process. You mentioned it is renter-friendly; have you tested the removal or done this before?
