1st: I predict that this tour will be fantastic!
2nd: I really hate what you did with the comments… We totally lost the community in here. But I guess the world is against people forming communities in our dreadful days..
You’re right—this tour is a good one! 😉
On your second point, thank you for sharing how you’re feeling about the shift. We made this change specifically to strengthen the community and create a more respectful, supportive space, but we know it’s a big adjustment. I’d love to better understand what doesn’t feel community-oriented to you so we can keep improving the experience
Thank you for your answer.. First of all, the fact that there's no immediate access to the comments frustrates me - I often find myself giving up searching for comments on a tour because I can't spot the tour. Also, I liked the fact that I could immediately see how many comments a tour got. 3rd -I don't need getting notifications every time someone comments on a tour that I have also commented - it's tiresome. 4rth, the previous page design was easy to watch. Why destroy sth succesfull?….
I guess that after months with the new setup, if people liked it they would comment like before. Instead, I see very few comments. That means it's not working. We've lost some very interesting commenters on the way. That's why I say the change disolved the community rather than enhanced it.
Pardon my english, as I am Greek! Kind regards
Hi Johanna! Thank you so much for taking the time to explain this more clearly. I really appreciate the level of detail you shared. A lot of what you mentioned — easier access from the article, seeing activity at a glance, and better notification control — are all things we’re actively working on. We know the experience needs to feel more seamless and we’re making changes behind the scenes to get it there.
To update your notification preferences so you aren't emailed every time someone comments on a House Tour you also commented on, just go to your preferences here and update accordingly. Thank you again for sharing your perspective, and for sticking with the conversation 💛
P.S. This tour is now live, so you can see the full thing!
Well said. All community has gone from this site. I'm still reading my daily post but with no sense of engagement as we all loved reading the comments. Without the humour of the comments it feels that at least half the articles are just ads, half of the remainder are repeats and one or two a day are fresh. The sense that we had friends and kindred spirits here has gone
I really like this place. Kitchen is a little dark, but I understand the choice since the granite had to stay.
I would rearrange the living room. Flip the couch and chairs, then put the TV next to the windows. That way you can see the view when you are on the couch and have a much better sight line to the TV. I have a similar urban view and have all of my main seating options facing the windows.
I think it would be a big help if you or another admin could create a forum topic for each new tour that came up, rather than relying on the users to do it.
Oh, and make the forum easier to find from the main site.
I actually like this, and I'm not normally a great one for stark modernist interiors. However, are those CCTV cameras I can see? {{shudder}}
