I miss the old format where comments were directly connected to the story.
Beautiful vision and craftsmanship. One of the best things I've seen on AT.
Wow thank you, that’s really sweet.
those tiles are amazing but none of this scream cold and gray. What am I missing?
you gotta see the before pic in the article ✌🏼
Curious what the rest of the room looks like. Why the arches?
The two openings were unequal size so I wanted to fix that, and the arches softened the space. Plus we live in Little Portugal in Toronto and a lot of the porches on the homes have arches so it felt like it connected with the neighbourhood.
@chadburtonstudio i am in LOVE with this whole thing — from the paint color to the tiles to the fact that it's removable if you want! was it hard to add the metal tile edging around the plywood?
nope! Thats actually what you use to keep the tiles in place when you grout them. Works sort of like a frame. Cutting the brass with a hacksaw was a bit of a challenge tho.
I do like this faux fireplace DIY, and the new wall color. the "before" pic however looks like an artist rendering, not an actual photo, so I'm not going to comment whether I like the before look or not, as compared to the "after". the only thing new besides the fireplace wall-space is the very-uncomfortable-looking white chair. so there's that.
honestly the chair is surprisingly comfortable! The before photo was a realtor pic so that might account for how it looks.
I really love that tile!
Got it, thanks. My Spanish Revival home has arches also, looks appropriate with the architecture, my arches woule look terrible in my 60’s MCM tho.
