House Tour: This Beautifully Busy Brooklyn Apartment Proves Maximalism Can Still Feel Calm

Although there are some small areas in this apartment that seem a tad too cluttered to me, I really like this space a lot. I like the mix of colors, textures, and art. Personally I lean toward maximalism myself, but I have to consciously reign it in to avoid overdoing it. I think she did a good job here, for the most part.

This is a tiny bit too maximalist for me, but there's so much that I like. The windows and the light - and the view - trees and a Gothic cathedral! - are just wonderful. What a find of an apartment, and to lease it sight unseen no less - very brave. It looks very comfortable and homey. I, too, like that dining nook, and the dining table and chairs. And I also like that understated wood galley kitchen - sometimes I get tired of big expensive kitchens that all look the same, although I admit they can be beautiful. It sounds like she has created a wonderful home for herself and to share with others, and what is better than that?

Lots of things to like about this apartment (that sunlight!), but as an animal lover and annoying vegan, the cowhide rug, various skins, and bull-fighting poster make me sad.
