I read the B&A comments and chime in occasionally, and what strikes me is that it is a place where everyone feels they have the right to criticise B&As "like" a professional, but without necessarily any use of constructive comments, courtesy, fairness or kindness. Personal tastes are very different to professional design considerations, and perhaps this forum allows every individual to feel they have an opinion that may end up sounding rather righteous, sometimes cruel and very personalised. Do people actually enjoy demeaning DIYs with their own taste of what is appropriate, with no professional background?
Amateur hacks and professional renovations are an attempt to improve and express one's self in one's own environment, often on a tiny budget. The outcome is not about being right or wrong, and there can be lots of useful tips. It should be about sharing a personal achievement and creating a forum for inspiration, rather than giving a forum for others to express their opinions.
I say just take away the comments and allow the creator the kudos for what they have worked hard to achieve.
