Help! I’m stuck and design-fatigued after sketching, designing, and deciding everything for my unfinished basement. I’m trying to figure out what to do with the 30ft wall with three hidden jibb doors and a gym door with a black smoked glass barn door. I originally wanted fluted wood slats, but they’re expensive. I’m worried they’ll be overkill and dated over time.
I have 9ft ceilings, and the prefab slats mostly come 8ft. The wall is the first thing you see when entering the basement, so I wanted jibb doors instead of a wall of doors. I want to give the wall character and texture without making it gimmicky, while disguising the hidden doors.
The space will be used for relaxing with friends, watching football or movies, and occasionally my kids hanging out or playing poker with their friends. My design style is warm, sophisticated, and modern with a touch of edge. I like leather, mixing fabrics & different materials , organic feel, greenery, and mixing vintage and modern to create a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. I want the space to be trendy and timeless.
I used to work in NYC fashion and have no problem putting outfits together, but interior design is a struggle. I know what I like, but I like many different styles. I can take risks with my personal style but I have interior design commitment issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
