Do people like having to go to a separate discussion board to leave a comment? This is the first time I've done it - seems like a nuisance.
But since I'm here this time (not sure I'll continue) - this apartment has a bit of glamour. For two people I'd definitely have to have a good sleep mask.
Yes, it is a nuisance! It seems they are switching over to this board instead of replies directly on the tour. This is the second or third one recently. I'd rather reply directly.
I love this studio! It is certainly very small, but Sara and her partner have definitely been very smart about making a creative and comfy space that doesn't feel claustrophobic (at least it doesn't seem that way in the pictures). I've never lived in a studio, but could see myself happily living in one like this.
And finally a tour done right, with full shots of the whole space, minimal vignettes, a good amount of wide shots taken horizontally, and a floor plan! Yay!

Well, having to jump here to a discussion board and jump back to the tour is tedious and inconvenient. Oftentimes I have to refer back to the tour while writing a comment and it is just easier and quicker to do it in the comments section of the tour and not have to flip back and forth. Silly change in my opinion.
We made the shelves so that they would fit custom on our walls! If you can see in the photos, we got a kind of metal track from Lowe's which we mounted to the wall, and then brackets to hold the shelves. The shelves are just wood planks that I stained! It was a relatively inexpensive DIY and not too difficult. The hardest part was attaching the metal tracks because behind out wall we found we have brick
No clutter? This place has so much in it that it makes my palms sweat over the "stuff overload". Here's the problem with having a hundred little items on two decor shelves: you can't see any of it, you see ALL of it at once, so nothing speaks. So then it just feels like a hundred little items on two decor shelves. Same with gallery walls. If there is no sense of cohesion than it's harder to see and appreciate what is being displayed. Especially if there are so many pieces. You see ALL of it at once and it does, in my opinion, clutter the wall. I have seen many galleries and I believe keeping the pieces to 7-9 and having connecting features (frames and color are the easiest to focus on) are always the most visually pleasing.
Great tour! I'm so impressed at the beauty and livability created in this tiny home!
I too live in just over 400 square feet and know the challenge. I find putting things behind closed doors really helps to create more visual calm. Having some 'white space' between the shelves, plants, pictures etc gives the eye somewhere to rest between all the activity.
I've had that same couch for about a year, and I will never shut up about what a great buy it was.
It is bloody inconvenient! More clicks are never the answer. Read the room! That said, the vintage rug in the living room of this apartment is fabulous.
Poly & Bark is amazing. I have two of their "chair and a half" chesterfield chairs in this color of leather, and I love them. The women in my book club fight over them when they come over because they're so cozy.

The hardest part was finding out we had plaster walls with brick behind them, so we had to get a special kind of screw that can go through brick. Happy creating!
It has also held up really well, even with a dog who scratches it a bit. I feel like it just gains character even when we spill or scratch it. It is the best.
