About three years ago I stayed in really nice hotel in Jamaica called Goldeneye. It was originally Ian Fleming's home in Jamaica where he wrote all of his James Bond books over 13 years. After he died it was eventually bought by a friend's son named Chris Blackwell, who did many things (including starting Island Records - famously Bob Marley's label), but became a hotelier and currently has three beautiful hotels in Jamaica along with a lot of style.
So what is my BIG one good thing that I took away?
The beds were incredibly comfortable to sleep in (see pic above) and my takeaway was the combination of:
a. regular top sheet
b. thick cotton coverlet in a waffle weave
c. duvet for warmth when needed
I'd never built a bed like this before and it was awesome. Cut to 2025 and I've had the same setup for the past few years and it's ESSENTIAL for a good sleep all year round.
That's it and this is my bed this morning..
THIS IS ONE GOOD THING!
The one I've got is the top one below, but I've found a few others as good options as different price points. You want it to be COTTON and a WAFFLE WEAVE as they are softer and more supple…
