I don’t even know where to begin! It’s an amazing space, but I’ve never lived in an open concept space. Ideas? Inspiration? **Note: I can’t paint the walls! 😭
That is one amazing space!
The problem here is that these pictures don't seem to relate to each other. Could you please post some more, so we have a better idea of how the room flows?
The height of these ceilings is just incredible!
+1! What's the second photo showing? Can you tell us more about the furniture you plan to bring into the space?
unfortunately I didn’t take photos of the west wall (windows) when I was in there, so this is all I have (for now). In terms of furniture, I’m starting over, and the only piece of furniture that may end up in there is a round swivel chair found here: https://www.roomstogo.com/furniture/product/brookeville-white-swivel-chair/12604472?region_id=002000&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=PLA+-+Living+Room+-+SE&utm_content=PLA+-+Living+Room+-+SE&utm_term=&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=21688047015&gbraid=0AAAAADuOUmoQdkt6LuEOnkwJYNG6CQfUC
Thank you for the new picture! Now the whole thing makes sense. It's a drool-worthy room.
Now for some questions.
I was going to suggest a kitchen island, but —do you really need one, with so much counter space and storage?
Do you want to keep the kitchen open to the living room area, or do you want some kind of separation?
Are you going to have a dining or dinette set there? An island (again, maybe not) with some stools?\
The chair you showed us is a neutral tone. Do you want the whole place to feel neutral, or do you want some color, or a lot?
You can easily fit a living room area, a dining room area and an office area there and still have room to spare. It all depends on how you want to use the space.
One way or the other, you will need a rug or two to anchor your rooms-inside-the-room.
As for the walls, you have a lot of non-painting choices, too. You could use some big art pieces to create a nice ambiance, or maybe a few wallpapered panels, or a couple of gallery walls.
The sky is the limit, really.
My favorite way to define spaces is with big plants. And with all that wonderful light, you can have TREES! You could even make a rectangular planter (on casters maybe?) as an actual divider and plant your trees or houseplants in that. Even good faux plants add so much life to a space! And when real plants are in large pots, they don't have to be watered as often. I water mine well only twice a month and they thrive.
I agree with whoever said that rugs are a good way to define spaces. And large pieces of furniture are too. A long sofa or a piano, etc. can serve as partial "walls" to define areas.
We love our open concept house and find it's fantastic for entertaining. I bet you'll love this place too. Those brick walls are gorgeous!
Looks like a moveable work station/eating area would work well for the kitchen. Find yourself a beautiful rug to determine where furniture placement should go. If buying new furniture don't go too big. I think a modern, minimalistic look would fit well in your new place. If that's your thing, of course. Take your time deciding what appeals to you. Also love the windows.😀
