low budget, elder woman lives alone with Luna, my dog and lovable companion. What should I get for my empty, small living room? I thought getting two comfy armchairs or do I go with a sofa?
The dog would love to sit with you on a sofa.
Hi @maria8352! Consider how you plan to use and live in the living room to inform your decision. A sofa does sound more comfortable for lounging with a pup though!
Hi, Maria — It's up to you! Either could work nicely. And I think it depends a lot on how big the room is. You said small — if it's really tiny and a sofa would crowd it, I'd go with the 2 comfy chairs. Or maybe a loveseat? Most people love to have someplace to sprawl (I do too), and would miss not having a sofa at all. But a sofa can be like a dinosaur and take over the space. I've seen living rooms that have 2 comfy chairs and no sofa, and it gives you a lot of extra room to play with. So — how much do you (and Luna) want to sprawl?
Previous comments pretty much say it all; 'sofa or no sofa, that is the question'? I'd say it depends if you like to lounge on the sofa, or are likely to have guests that would like a sofa, if the answer to both of those is no, comfy easy chairs sound blissful. I don't like sofas, so for lounging I use bean bags, they're cheap, lightweight, and can be heaped in an odd corner till needed (and dogs love them too!!!!!). Those would rather depend on how mobile you are, I'm 77 and I've been bean bagging for over 45 years, but you might have problems getting down and up again. Good luck with your sitting room.
@maria8352 tagging you just to make sure you saw these responses! Also, would selfishly love to see a pic of Luna because I'm such a dog person ❤️
