Hi! I need help figuring out the color of my dining table for the kitchen. In the example in some of the pictures, you can see a black dining table was used for the model apartment but trying to see what's possible. Also, in some of the pictures the kitchen colors look different and that's because the lighting was not installed yet. In addition, ideally the table wouldn't be more than 60'' long. If you have any suggestions for shape as well, I'm all ears. Thank you!
Cute space! I think the black table looks nice in the model apartment because it ties in with the chair details, but it also matches the stovetop, so you could always do that. But I think an important question to ask is, what is your style like?! What colors/materials will you have in the living room? Since it's an open floor plan, you'll want to consider how everything plays into each other
What @DanielaAraya said.
Whatever color you choose, I would stay with some kind of curved shape for the table/chairs and/or place them over a round/oval rug. The space is very modern, all straight lines and right angles, so it needs a little softening to feel inviting.
I'd advise against the rectangle. You are going to bruise yourself on those corners in such a tight space. I have a long oval in my dining room. I actually had to have an oval cut to fit on a rectangular library table. You can seat 2 at the ends instead of the one using a rectangle. I bought the library table at an antiques mall. It was not that expensive but it is solid. A carpenter made the top and came out and attached it. The other good feature is it can be detached again. This would be necessary if I had to move as otherwise it is too big to fit through any doors. This is a consideration when you buy your own table. Make sure it can be maneuvered into the space and around the corners or that it can be easily disassembled and reassembled with simple tools. Have fun.
Consider a taller table that could also be used as an additional work space. Rolling out pasta or pie crust can take up a little room, if that's your thing.
Also, don't rule out glass - it will take up much less visual space and make the room seem less cramped. You can always get one with black iron legs and get your bold black in.
I like the idea of a round counter height table to double as a workspace when you need it. I think that you can go with either a light or dark wood. Maybe you can find one that has a leaf so that you can open it into an oval when you have friends/family over. Your apartment looks really great!
Your space looks really nice, and I can see why you'd want to get the dining table just right! If you're limited to 60", a round or oval table could work beautifully—it softens the angles in a kitchen and improves flow, especially in tighter spaces. As for color, a black table like the model unit gives a bold, modern contrast, but if your lighting is warm or your cabinets are darker, a medium wood or even a matte white finish could brighten the area and feel more inviting. Once your lighting is fully installed, it’ll be easier to make the final call. Can’t wait to see what you choose!
