I moved to a new home and I would love to help me decorate this space specially the wall against the door.TIA
Wow, this is tough. You have lots of space, it looks like, but most of it isn't usable for decorating because you need to walk through it or leave room for doors to swing. So it's hard to figure out what to do.
The wall where the entry door swings open can't have furniture because you can't obstruct the door. For color and interest, you could hang something flat on the wall that won't be damaged by the door hitting it. (If needed, you can install a doorstop on the floor to prevent the door knob from hitting the wall.) Maybe a tapestry or an unframed piece of art on paper or cloth? Or a mirror? Or wallpaper or paint the wall in a color? I think it should be fairly large and centered on that wall so it looks good from the location where you took the picture.
You might have room for a low bench or chair on the other side of the door under the window, where you could set things down when you come in. I can't really tell if there's room.
I like the wooden slats; they look cool and modern and break up all the white. But I think that wall is your best location for a shelf or table to put keys, mail and other stuff you need when coming and going. So, while I love plants, there might be a better use for that spot. It would look gorgeous, though, if you could make it a plant wall with vines trailing down. There seems to be decent light there.
Wow, great closets! I'm assuming you have acres of space inside, so you don't need to hang coats or bags on the walls anywhere. You need to leave the space in front of them clear for doors opening and people to walk by.
You probably need a doormat or runner to prevent tracking dirt onto your white floors!
I'm curious to hear other people's ideas. :)
You have a lot of hard surfaces and may need to soften it and absorb sound.I would hang a mirror and possibly over some kind of fabric/tapestry. Create some layers. Think about installing a floor based door stop so the door hardware doesn’t compromise anything. Next I would add a wide runner. Based on where you live, things could get mrssy/ wet. Is this your primary entrance/exit or mostly just company? if it is your mud room too, then I would put a bench against that wooden wall. And while I get what you were trying to do there, it feels out of context with the house style. I think you have great opportunity to add color with rug, wall hanging and bench.
Agree on adding a runner and a mirror. You could also add a small entryway table against the wall on the left with a small lamp - maybe something curved (like a half circle). If you're into art, a painting in the entry way would add some colour too!
Congratulations on your new home! You’ve got a lovely entryway with great potential, and with a few thoughtful touches, you can make it feel warm and welcoming.
For the wall opposite the door, a statement mirror would be a fantastic addition—it’ll reflect light and make the space feel larger. You could pair it with a slim console table or a floating shelf beneath it, giving you a spot for keys, a small plant, or decorative accents.
If you prefer more of a feature wall, adding a large piece of artwork or a set of framed prints would create a focal point. To make the space feel cozier, consider adding a runner rug with some color or texture—it’ll break up the tile and define the entry space.
Finally, upgrading the ceiling light fixture to something a bit more stylish (like a semi-flush mount with a decorative shade) could elevate the whole look. With these tweaks, your entryway will feel polished and inviting!
