Ideas for a living room nook

Hi AT! I'm hoping you can help with some design ideas for this recessed nook in my living room. I've been outfitting this turn-of-the-century apartment over the past few months, and this is the one spot I just can't figure out. It's about a 3'x3' space -- obviously not a ton of room, but it's a cool feature, and I'd hate to let it stay empty. Thanks in advance!

This is so fun! My mind immediately went to making this a little reading/lounge nook. You could find a chair that fits perfectly in the alcove or something that could sit at an angle in the corner with a little drink table to the side

But then the other side of my brain went into "How can we make this a little surprise and delight moment at home?!" Could you make a mini-bar moment by hanging some small shelves on the wall with fancy coups and some hosting accouterments? I would hang a long, lush curtain from the inside of the alcove then, so when you have guests over in the evening, you can open it up and surprise them with your station. It would be especially cute if it was wallpapered inside! And you can always leave the curtain open during the day to let in light

That’s such a charming little nook! Given the vintage character of your apartment, you could lean into that and turn it into a cozy reading spot with a petite armchair or a tufted ottoman. If seating isn’t a priority, a small bar cart or a plant stand with some cascading greenery could add warmth without overwhelming the space. Since you already have a great music setup, maybe a slim, mid-century-inspired floor lamp or even a curated stack of books and records could make it feel intentional.

I thought of plants right away — a window box, a plant ladder, or a tall tree-type plant in the corner. You could even add an indoor fountain so there would always be the pleasant sound of trickling water — so relaxing!

I immediately thought of a bar or coffee bar moment. Could get a great bookshelf below the window, and add floating shelves up the top left of the window!

ooo I love your space!! seconding the idea of a bar car (especially styled with some plants, since you have so much great light in this nook). but your record collection also made me think of creating a little listening lounge/bar, and a telephone bench could be a great seat to tuck in there — I always find these pretty affordably in secondhand stores! :)
