Making a Temporary Furnished Sublet Look Like a Home
Hello, design enthusiasts!
I am subletting a furnished bedroom + dressing room in a cozy Brooklyn townhouse for the next six months while I take time to look for my own apartment in a new neighborhood. I don’t have any personal furniture, but I added inexpensive curtains, bedding, decor, and a rug (all from Amazon!) along with my knick-knacks and artwork to make the space feel like a home, even if only temporary.
My style is minimal, but I wanted to honor the owner’s boho aesthetic, as she has furnished the house with thrift store finds. The curtains are a tad short. I mounted some prints and photographs with contact strips. Any suggestions on temporary enhancements are welcome!

Wow, look at those ceilings! You're lucky 🤩 I love what you did with the place. This apartment's architecture reminds me of this creator's home. Maybe you can find some inspiration from her DIYs
What's your lighting situation like in here in the evening? Is it just the overhead light and table lamp? My suggestion would be to lean into that cozy feel of the apartment and bring in some more accent lighting. You can add cordless wall sconces or floor lamps to help set a vibe. I would also have some fun playing around with styling the mantel. Looking great though!

Wow, I love the way you transformed this space! The rug perfectly covers up the plain wood planks and instantly makes the room feel warmer. The rug is truly the perfect addition to the transformation. The curtains are also a great choice and naturally add soft light and a classy vibe to the room. I also bought a similar rug and now is the perfect time to buy it with the early Black Friday discounts.

Great camouflage of the short curtains by using plants! I doubt I would have even noticed they’re short if you didn’t call them out.
Just like the first commenter, need more lighting, and it’ll be cozy.
