My 3 word mantra for decluttering
When we did a major remodel several years ago I read that one must choose three words to describe the vibe of your remodeled home and use as guiding principles to make the hundreds of design decisions.
We finished the remodel and it turned out great, and now I use those same three words to decide what to keep or give away.
My words: simple, elegant and flow.

Love this, Colleen! It's so helpful to be able to come back to your words in moments of uncertainty

I'm declutter. I'm using do I use it, need it or love it to declutter.
I would like it to look like clean, order and empty spaces.

Inviting, alive, playful/happy. I couldn't decide. When friends come over, they will often comment on how there is so much to see, like being in a museum. They don't get to see the clutter behind the doors. I want all doors wide open and that Invite a peek beyond them. My grandsons are young, so I love that they think our home is fun to explore and I let them. I'd like to be a good example for them of being clutter free yet still a fun place to be. Plants are so important to me. If I could have a full wall of green and growing in each room, I would. That's the alive part.

This is a beautiful response. Thank you for sharing! And plants really do make everything better, don't they? 😊
