Galley kitchen question
Hi everyone,
This is a picture pre moved-in. We love our place and this is the most counter space we've had in a kitchen. I don't mind having a galley kitchen as well and it opens up to a space we using for dining.
the only thing is the end of the galley (circled in blue) appears awkward to me. How you would style this area? also attached another picture from a different angle.
I'm also not looking into doing any major renovations.
I welcome all ideas.
thank you,
Coconurmi

I guess you may want the end of the kitchen to be flush rather than having the indent - also the fridge being centred breaks up the line on the other side you may want to shift that to the right.

Would a very shallow bookcase fit there? Then you could use for cookbooks?
Or some pretty hooks to hang canvas bags/shopping bags/pet paraphernalia on?

that's a good thought. what do you think of a bar table or kitchen island?

love the idea of a small bookcase, even the ones that comes with wheels.

hi @coconurmi! I think a bookcase to store cookbooks would look fabulous here! or, if you wanted to add a small cabinet and display your glassware and serveware that would also be fun! if you're looking for a more narrow cabinet, Apartment Therapy has covered some gorgeous options here!

A wine cart would look nice decorated any way you would like, not necessarily wine.

I would consider a tall cabinet with adjustable shelves which could hold trash, recycling, cleaning supplies, or pantry items, etc., whatever you don't have enough room for right now. It would really finish out the run and make the end cap look clutter-free.

You could mount a few small spice racks to the cabinet and use them to display favorite cookbooks - something like these -

I think either could work! My only concern would be that if it protrudes too far out, it could feel out of place since it would technically be coming out into the open area/walkway outside of the kitchen. But your space looks open enough that it's worth a shot! Do you need more counter space for cooking?

I think you should do a cute cart! You could have it be a drink cart or it could be for cookbooks. My suggestion is to make it be the width of the wall + cabinets! I'd pick something with a lot of personality, but you could do something classic, too.

Finding the right sized kitchen island has been challenging, because you're right, it is often too long. I have a good amount of counter space the way it is.

I'm curious what this would look like. do you have anything specific in mind?

Thank you for the mock-up @AdrienneBreaux . I like the aesthetic of the chestnut wooden cart

@Weyeswoman I'm curious what this would look like, do you have a specific product in mind?

hi @CullenOrmond , I also like your idea of having a tall narrow cabinet in that area. @Weyeswoman also suggested having a tall cabinet. Would something like this from IKEA work for this area? For context our apartment is now painted with Benjamin Moore Par four. Also how about an open shelf cabinet as in
here
?thank you everyone for the ideas!

I would put a large plant there - looks like you have a lot of nice, natural light.

Anything placed in this spot will stick out. So….. make it look intentional! 1) Add a small rug under a cart. Fill the cart with potted herbs placed on a rimmed cookie sheet or trays.
2) as people tend to gather near when you are in the kitchen, a small square table with a stool pushed underneath on a small rug would look inviting. Or mount a half round table on the cabinet, again with a rug underneath. Artwork hung on the top cabinet over the table would define the space as would plants as has been suggested. I see this as a focal point to soften the edges of this boxy area.0
