    Mirrors, good lighting, having SOME negative space, and using color carefully.

    Decorating in ways that draw your eye up! You can do this with mirrors or art, but I actually love painting ceilings as a way to draw your eye up. You have to be careful with the colors you choose, but I've found that it tricks your eye into thinking the room keeps extending upward!

    Smart! i think curtains can do a lot for that, too — having curtain rods hung closer to the ceiling is such a clever way to make a room look taller.

    Throw the windows open and let the outside in.
