I have two areas I can’t quite figure out in my new apartment and would love some help. Any creative tips, ideas, or thoughts. One is my entryway with a shoe cabinet and art over top and the other is my kitchen area. No clue how to approach these areas. Was thinking maybe a breakfast nook for the kitchen area? Thoughts!
You could try a round table and bench style seats in your kitchen, it's good for a corner spot, and you could do a diy pendant light over the top
For the entryway, you could add a mirror above the shoe cabinet to open up the space and make it feel more intentional. Maybe a small tray or decorative bowl on top for keys and everyday essentials. If you want more warmth, a small rug in front of the cabinet could help define it as a welcoming zone.
For the kitchen, a breakfast nook is a great idea! A small round table with a couple of chairs would keep it airy, or even a built-in bench along the wall with a table for a cozy café vibe. If you want to keep it more open, a slim console table against the wall with some stylish storage baskets underneath could be both functional and decorative.
Kitchen — I would definitely do a little table and chairs. I hadn't even thought of a round table (that's such a good idea!); I was thinking a square table could go in the corner, with 2 chairs, and you could enjoy looking out the window while you eat; you could also do desk work there. Or even a rectangular table! I'm not sure about the area where the 2 chairs are now; it could be for storage or an extra prep area? It looks like it wouldn't work for eating — too tight.
Entry — Well, here's a weird Idea. You could put a bench or seating along the wall where the shoe cupboard is now, under the art, and turn the shoe cupboard perpendicular to the wall so it faces the door. The idea is to create a little entry area that's separate from the rest of the living room, and keep drafts away from the couch where people are talking. I'm not sure if that would look weird or actually create some nice psychological separation. You would sit on the bench to put shoes/boots on, set down stuff when you come home, etc. Or you could put the shoe cupboard on the other side of the door, facing the wall and backed up to the couch, creating a little hallway when you come into the house.
Lots of possibilities here!
Good idea how about a small bistro
A corner breakfast nook would be so sweet!
I also think that the shoe cabinet in the entryway could have an object tray on it,and the tray could hold not only keys, but also scented candles, perfume, mugs, and whatnot as well.
