European here. No top sheet, thanks. Too claustrophobic once tucked in. I've never understood the concept, or why they feel the need to have them in hotels, where, hopefully, they should wash all linen for each guest anyway.

Possibly! Singles in Europe are 36 inches.. Not much in it though. We don't have anything at 39", the next up is a small double/three-quarter at 48".

All I know is I don't understand why 'single' beds are called 'twin' beds in the US; I would assume a 'twin' bed is the same as a 'double. But there you go!

Also disagreeing with everyone.. Number 2 is definitely my favourite. More open, a space for a reading spot; it just feels so much less cluttered!
