I actually have cameras hanging on the wall above my sofa. Right now, it's three in a vertical column: an old'un somewhat like the plasticky one above, a 50's Polaroid land camera, and a Canon similar to that Argus. I'd like to eventually do a 3x3 block of them, but for now there's a print next to them. Apartment Therapy Unplugged | Inspiration: Take Out That Vintage Camera For Decoration |

What about Marcal? They say 100% recycled, so I've been buying their paper towels, napkins, and toilet paper. Recycled from what, I don't know... but I'd like to! Apartment Therapy Chicago | Simple Green: Recycled Bathroom Tissue |

I have a Linksys DECT Skype phone, which also accepts a landline. It's been an excellent phone for use with the landline. Range, clarity, battery life are all great. It's developed a clicking problem in the earpiece, though. As a Skype phone, meh. To be honest, 95% of the time I was using Skype to conference with my friends. When I tried this, it crashed. Many times. It wasn't a bandwidth issue, either. I could comfortably conference with six people on my PC. The other issue: When using Skype with a PC headset you get full-bandwidth audio, sound quality is excellent, both outgoing and incoming. BUT, when you use the Skype phone... it sounds like a phone. Tinny and icky. If you're okay with that, go for it. It works well for one-to-one calls. Apartment Therapy Unplugged | Philips VOIP841 PC-Free DECT 6.0 Wireless IP Phone |

I actually have this same problem. I'm using an Ikea TV stand for my recording station, with laptop on top, recording gear and hard drives beneath, along with a turntable and Tivoli radio. But it's terribly uncomfortable to use for extended periods of time. Apartment Therapy Unplugged | Flickr Finds: George's Green Genius |

projectors require so much more maintenance if you want them to actually last for a decent amount of time. the fans need to be cleaned regularly to prevent damage and decreased lamp life. and with lamps still costing that much, for everyday viewing, they're a bad idea as far as i'm concerned. and when you get into the cheaper "home theatre" projectors, they're especially prone to failure. I work for an integrator that does this sort of thing in commercial environments all the time. Proper viewing angle for a flat display is 15 degrees above eye level. That's a lot less than it sounds like, but probably still ok for your TV over the fireplace. I honestly prefer to be looking UP a little.
