I do something similar to Miss Neesh. I peel only the part I need from the thin end and store the rest in a zip lock bag in the fridge. The next day the exposed edge is brown, so I thinly slice it off and toss the brown part. I use avocado on sandwiches and have had them last for a week this way. Our house payment is only 25% of our income, and that's on a 15 year loan. But then we also have 4 people in 1300 sq. feet. We could afford a larger/nicer home, or larger newer cars, but why? House Poor No More: Determining What You Can Afford |

Myself, my husband and our two children live in 1300 square feet. I agree that the lay out is what really matters. My husband works from home full time and we have frequent overnight guests, another bedroom instead of a family room would make the function of our home so much better. We are just fine in this size home, but crowded when company comes for long visits. How Much Square Footage Do You Require? |

I have lived in the Northwest for 37 years now and we have always taken our shoes off. I can not think of a single family I know who doesn't take their shoes off. I don't ask my guests to, they do it automatically. And I agree that a pile of shoes at the front door looks cluttered, so we put ours away in our rooms as soon as we enter (minus my husband - I do it for him - for my sanity!). I once again have no dryer (3rd time). Sheets are the hardest to dry, due to their size. Towels are crunchy, but you can get used to that. Our biggest issue is our laundry freezes if outside during winter, and when your wet clothes freeze they literally will break (done it!). So we have to hang dry all in our little house. It's doable, but hard if you like to have company over. Have You Lived Without a Dryer? Survey | Apartment Therapy Boston |

I live in rainy Washington, cold, but not horrid cold. So top sheet, down-alternative & a comforter puddled at bottom of bed to pull up when needed. When it gets snowy cold we may add a wool blanket, but that doesn't happen often. How Many Comforters is Enough for Autumn Chill? | Apartment Therapy Los Angeles |

I have no idea - but I still had to tell you that I think your tables are fabulous. While I love mid century modern (and decorate that way myself) it seems that homes are all starting to look alike with chair and table choices. Your tables are very unique and I'm sure they give your room a personal spin. Love them, and the diamond pattern on your floors. Can Anyone ID these Unusual End Tables? Chusmabilly; years ago Martha Stewart had info in one of her catalogs on how to paint a desk like that yourself. It would cost a heck of a lot less if you were able to do it yourself. Worth a look see maybe..... Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | Turning A Furniture Regret Around |

I would cut off those little fan looking things in the corners of the desk and paint both pieces black. Then some teal glass knobs. Maybe even some teal tissue paper or craft paper behind that cool scrolly thing on the top of the desk to make it pop.
