Hi Everyone,

Thank you all for your lovely ideas. I am having 20 guests at the party. There isn't a kitchenette available and I am hesitant to ask other guests to bring their own plates and cups.

I am looking more into the Earthshell & IKEA products.

Loki - Did you send the Kalas items home with your guests?

Thanks again,
Rikki

I use the same container as you. I just double up the bricks of wipes. It is a little tight at first but the wipes don't go flying. I also take the wipes out before a diaper change.

I use to work for Restoration. You can go to a local appliance repair shop. They will be able to fix the motor. Good luck.

Last year when I was 7 months pregnant my house alarm went off at 3am. My husband was away on a business trip and I did not have a single light on in the house. I was completely terrified and I couldn't see if there was anyone outside or inside. I now leave the front and back porch lights on, a light in my foyer and the stove light in my kitchen. All CFL's of course!

Oh, one last thing. Get a mobile for the crib that is battery operated and will run for 15 minutes. The wind up mobile drove me crazy.

This is the one I have now:

Hi, I have a four month old and have way too many things stored in my basement. These are the basics that I use day to day.

Swing!! I like this one better than the Graco one that I own.

Bouncy Seat

Bottle Dryer

My favorite shirts and pants

Portable Change pad. I like this one because it isn't bulky....therefore your diaper bag isn't over flowing.

Born Free Bottles (Wide neck is good if you're breast feeding). If you aren't then it's good to have about a day and a half worth of bottles.

Diaper type burp cloths.

I used the baby bargains book to find car seat and crib etc.

Also, the Elizabeth Mitchell CD's are my favorite!!!

Best of luck!

I think putting a skirt over the bookcases would give the eye a nice rest. Use a simple nuetral fabric and then maybe grosgrain ribbon accent to pick up on the wall color. (You can construct the curtains using iron on tape if you don't know how to sew). I'd consider painting the shelves the same color as the material but that's a big project.

Take most of the things off of the top of the shelves and just put a few select accent pieces. Scoot the shelves out of that corner (about a foot and a half) to create a little more breathing room. Also that light on the right is far too heavy to be nestled in the corner next to the window. I would try moving that to the other end of the shelves or eliminating it all together and replacing it with a thin floor lamp to be placed between the sofa and shelves.

I agree with most people that the paint is too busy. Green is great with the artwork that you have but maybe not so limey. I'd paint wall with the window a dark color and the other wall a medium color from the same swatch.

Delete both the deer and the rug.

Get a simple nuetral rug (5x8?)

Something like this to act as a coffee table (2 of them): http://www.cb2.com/family.aspx?c=114&f=3840

Good luck!

We have a bedroom wall that is shared with our double story family room. If one person is trying to sleep and the other is downstairs watching television the person in bed can hear everything. Solution = bookshelves on the shared wall. Books act as a great sound absorber. I can't hear a thing anymore. Also, a thick carpet with a pad.

I think you might also be able to put FLOR tiles on the wall with relative success.

I just gave birth 8 weeks ago. My husband and I had pretty much settled on Avery.

When we discovered that our little girl had red hair I couldn't bring myself to name her Avery. We ended up naming her after both of our mothers, Carol & Linda = Carolyn. There are many Caroline's but not many Carolyn's and even though it's a more traditional name than a girl named Rikki (me) would usually go for, it makes me happy to know her name isn't on any top ten lists.

You can use gallery tracks that are installed where the ceiling and the wall meets. A chain will hang down and then you can put anything you want up!

I use to work at Restoration Hardware and I recall thinking that was our sofa in the movie. I believe it was featured in Persimmon which was last years fall color. I don't know if it is still available. Here is the link to the Barclay sofa:

The shine will go away with time. Just don't wax or buff them and they'll be mat within a years time.

I know a lot of people use Murphy's Oil soap to clean their wood floors but that leaves a shine on mine. I use the combo of 1 cup of vinegar to 1 gallon of warm-hot water and I'm always happy with the result.

Good luck.

If you don't want to spend a lot of time making it look better get a pair of long curtains. Hang them from the ceiling via a hospital track and call it a day. I had almost the exact same piece of furniture in my apartment on 78th street and I tried putting fabric panels to make it look better but I was never satisfied.

Just make sure the curtains are darker because they'll be in a high traffic area.

Best of luck.
