I was living in Williamsburg Brooklyn and had just woken up- my upstairs neighbor came running downstairs right after the first plane hit, screaming 'turn on your tv' and we (my roomates and myself) did. We ran up to our roof and saw that there were people on rooftops all over the neighborhood- we watched the second plane hit then the first tower went down. there was a collective 'NOOOO' from us and our neighbors on the rooftops. It was so surreal- the smell, the silence, the ash everywhere- for the next few days, the streets were empty except for peopled gathered in hushed groups on corners comforting each other against the hundreds of missing posters everywhere. So sad.

Nothing like a civic cause to introduce you to your neighbors. I participated in the fight against the proposed stadium on the west sice, and I really got to know my neighbors. It gave me a sense of pride in my neighborhood and made me fall in love with my home again. And I'm now friendly with the neighbors which is the added bonus that I didn't expect.

So in cleaning out my closet and purging things, I discovered moths had gotten into my sweaters and I had to throw a large portion of them out. I purchased cedar blocks and cedar balls and cedar and lavender spray as well as waterproof vinyl storage boxes for the sweaters in hopes to get rid of the moths once and for all. I don't recall ever even seeing a moth in my apt. I purged the entire bedroom and ended up taking 4 large bags of clothes and shoes to the shelter in my neighborhood. My bedroom is now more peaceful/restful then its ever been.
