I hope the links for the Spring Cure are more prominent this time around than during the fall cure. After all, the cures are what this site initially was all about!

I just googled 'decorate balcony' and here are some of the pretty images it returned:
-can you put painted shutters on the outside of the windows?
http://l.yimg.com/g/images/spaceball.gif
-some lights along the balcony like I was mentioning:

-cute outdoor chandelier from AT:

I think lighting is huge too -- how about stringing some white christmas lights around the balcony? And spreading some votives around.
Just as important is adding some color -- you can spray paint the metal part of the chairs, or at least add some bright pillows in outdoor fabric.

It's great to see how many people signed up! I was getting worried that there was so little activity, but I guess it's just cause we're only getting started.

Just a reminder that it really helps if you put your flickr link in your profile it makes it much easier to find your pictures for people that are trying to help each other out. Sometimes it can be really hard to translate from here over to Flickr with the different screen names and all.

salley, don't worry that you didn't clean before, it will just make the afters that much more impressive! :)

i think we are just being directed to the archive of cure posts (ie. spring), which will include this (fall) post next week, it's just not in the archive yet since it's new. That's my understanding of it, anyway.

I agree that a link for the cure would be really helpful. It is just as important or even more so than house tours, the archive, etc. After all, this is where it all began! It is really frustrating to have to scroll through so many posts to try to find this one specific one, and I constantly feel like I'm missing something.

All that aside, I'm very excited to be involved and starting this cure! My dad died at the start of last year's fall cure right after I'd moved to NY from NM and into this apartment, I've done some stuff in the interim but still have lots of ideas and things I would like to change about my place!

I'm also really happy that there's now an official NY flickr pool, I think it will help keep things more manageable. The unofficial one is awesome but quite daunting and overwhelming. So good job there.

yay!! I'm so in!! I went with my mom to buy gorgeous dupioni silk fabric for curtains and pillow covers last week, and have acquired an entertainment center and dresser since last year which are really working well in my space!

I bought the Apple Airport Extreme router today and made big strides in clearing up the wire clutter. It's wonderful to only have the power cord to tether me, even in this small space! It was a post on AT that helped me decide which router to get, I'm already very happy with it -- it works with my Macbook Pro computer and HP printer right away.

I also signed up for ebills and online bill pay for all my bills -- that should help the paper clutter.

Alana -- I completely agree about the couch facing the kitchen, the focal point ends up being the front door which is just so boring. That's what made me realize that facing the fireplace was so important -- it really is the focal point of the room.

Thanks for the comment!

Does anyone know why my 4 pictures I tagged with apartmenttherapycure aren't showing up in the pool? I only have 31 pics tagged to it total, so I don't think that's the problem...

I finally added a few pictures. Still needs a lot of work, but you can see the temporary shades, the new table, and a different layout. Also pictures from Home Depot of the rug I'm thinking of getting -- opinions please!

I agree with others that having to go back and forth from Flickr to here makes things difficult and hard to keep track of. I wish there was one central location that was more like a forum -- everyone could post their own threads and put pictures right in the posts, and other people could comment with replies in others threads in addition to a central thread or several central threads. I do agree that the opportunity to have this online community to connect with has been invaluable, thank you!

I've gotten a lot of little things done, but haven't been following the cure at all. My space is already so much better and more functional! I bought a table at ikea that has leaves, my mom and I brought it home on the bus! Mom has been here the pas week which has been wonderful but of course I haven't done anything at home. That's ok though, I know I'll continue to work on things in the coming months. I feel like zooza, that I'm only just now at the point where most people might start a cure, what with the big move and huge adaptations. That's what the next cure's for, I guess! I'm so impressed with everyone that's really followed along!
