We have 2 dogs (1 pitbull 1 american bulldog) and 2 cats (1 burmese and 1 short haired)

We also have wood floors. I bought a hoover floormate from walmart for $100 on sale, and it has been a life saver. It vacumes, washes, and dries. The cleaner you use for the floormate smells really fresh and clean, and it picks up all of my beautiful Bella's tiny hairs. I really should wash the floors every other day.... but I don't.

Grabbing My Happy- Lego already has several home type sets that are gender neutral and really great to put together. The lego friends set is clearly being marketed to a specific audience, as noted in the quote above, I believe that is the concern.

I'm very disappointed. My daughter loves legos, and enjoys building them as much as her brothers do. Lego made Hermione Granger in the regular blocky style for the Hogwarts train set, and I think she looked lovely :). I don't know why girl legos need to be thin and stylish, super frustrating.

My family really enjoys Alton Brown's meatloaf. We leave the carrot and red pepper out though, I like my veggies on the side rather than in the meat. Its delicious and freezes really well. I just made two for a friend that had twins, and her family loved it too.

Its funny the songs our kids choose for their theme music. I have one that loves The Devil's Dance Floor by Flogging Molly. I used to clean house to it when he was little. Thank goodness he doesn't understand the words yet.

I will be making these tonight, in anticipation of my three kids' parent-teacher conference in October. (I might have to keep a few for myself...)

I always wonder how much the teachers really enjoy/appreciate presents from their students and parents. I know all of these ladies can't be into traditional design.... Oh well, suppose it's the thought that counts.

The crates are lovely. I think I'd find something else to store in the upper ones though. I wouldn't want to come home, walk in, and stare my icky gym shoes in the face. Maybe the dog leashes and water bottles could live up there instead....

I love my clack clack clack keyboard! I left it in my old cube and my previous manager was nice enough to order a new one and ship me the old one.
Maybe I should have stayed....

I actually love the upholstery on the before. The colors of the striped fabric in the after are a bit too neutral for me. A great find and wonderful project though. I think I've been convinced to go garage saleing this weekend.

I love that his style is edgy, but not childish. Its a fine line that designers walk. I love kitsch, unexpected playful pieces, and incorporating all of my craziness into a space, but I do NOT want my home looking like a 15 year old emo girls bedroom. Antonio keeps it classy :)

(and yes, everyone loves Chewie! Thanks for adopting him instead of powering the puppy mill!)

Whole Foods carries frozen rhubarb. Not ideal, not not nearly as expensive as fresh either.

These carrots and parsnips. I made them along with mine last year and they were awesome. I've been meaning to make them again, but it's just to hot here. (109 today...)

I didn't put nearly as much whisky in as the recipe called for... but I suppose alcohol is always to taste. I also put the parsnips in a bit latter than the carrots, the parsnips cook faster and will be soggy if you leave them in forever.

hence the comment... if you're playing poker and having friends over to an open bar... the whole surronding kind space seems a bit odd.

I understand blending kid and grown up spaces, but I have to say that I would not want to semi stagger up the stairs after a poker game while reading the colors of the rainbow. (or have my drunk friends dive bombing themselves down the slide...)The rooms each had some cool components, I just don't think they were blended very well.

Home brewing? I've been meaning to pick that up as a hobby...
Or freezer cooking? I've been making healthy things to stash away for days I get home from work late, or we have lots of people to feed on short notice. It's nice because there is a serious method to it, and it keeps me from eating junk all week.

I made my kids and 2 step daughters a rainbow cake last night. It was amazing! We have 5 birthdays in June/July, and this cake was wonderful for everyone. They each got their favorite color in a layer of cake. It didn't take very long at all, since the layers are so thin, the baking time for each is only about 10 minutes.
