I've seen this in tiles and it's beautiful, so conceptually, I like this ... my biggest fear would be it wouldn't be particularly forgiving if every riser weren't exactly the same height. Our house is over 100 years old and has been rehabbed multiple times, so if we have rooms with floors that aren't exactly level from one side to the other, I'm afraid it might be worse with the stairs! I've personally never done this with my little ones, but at some point I read about a mom who would go thru the house drawer by drawer with their tot (not all in one day, but maybe 1-2/day), letting their curiosity roam, touch things, pull things out, show them what things are etc and throw things out/spring clean in the process. Sounded like a good way to get organized to me! Ideas for Entertaining a Ten-Month-Old Good Questions |

definitely! we're in chicago in the city and have 1 for each of the kids (3+ and almost 2) - crane elephants. they get stowed away around may and i usually get it out around october when someone brings home a cold. i think it does help loosen the mucus and i swear they sleep better when it's going full blast and they're either coughing or all stuffed up. Our kids are 17 mos apart and I've really thought about having them sleep in the same room when on vacation, but have yet to try. (They're almost 3 and 16 mos now) But I'm thinking of trying this winter. Do you put them to bed at the same time then? My biggest fear is that our older one hops out of bed, climbs into her crib, gets them both get riled up and then neither gets to sleep at a reasonable hour... chaos ensues... We recently invested in a Learning Tower (we have a 2 yo and a nearly 11mo old) and the 2yo LOVES to go "fishing" in the bar sink. His little sister likes to stand in there next to him while he's fishing too, so I'm thinking we'll get many years of use of of this. I was also pretty pleased with myself when I conned him into washing all his million Legos (dog hair, you know) in the sink with soap, rinse and dry them. :) He also likes to "cook" now - mixing and making pancakes, so not having to pick him up to show him what I'm cooking is awesome. 5 Activities for a Young Toddler | Apartment Therapy Ohdeedoh |

Love the look, might be slimy to clean. And between our 2 yo and 11mo old, these would end up in all corners of the house. So for now, anything remotely decorative and within our kids' reach must have a playability factor to it. Sigh. A Place for Wet Shoes | Apartment Therapy Ohdeedoh |

I vote for leather too... until your 2yo tries to stick stickers to it. :) We have a leather couch and a microfiber chair and a half in the family room and it all takes a beating bw the kids and the dog, but they clean up nicely. In the kids rooms, both of our gliders are microfiber, and I've never had a problem cleaning up bodily fluids on either. Nature's Miracle works wonders. We scored a microsuede Nurseryworks goodnight glider for $600-700 when they went on clearance this spring. It's terrific. We also have the Dylan rocker from Land of Nod for our son's room and while not quite as modern, it's super comfortable. Apartment Therapy ohdeedoh | Modern, Danish-Inspired Rocker or Glider? Mmmmm.... we like to wrap the dates in bacon and pop them in the broiler - the perfect salty & sweet. (Blanching the bacon first works well if you don't want your bacon cooked crispy.) We recently tried slitting the dates, stuffing them with gorgonzola and then wrapping them in bacon. Mmm, mmm. Apartment Therapy The Kitchn | What's the Deal with Dates? |

We have a 100 lb lab and got him the giant Fatboy bed bc I liked the way it looked. Problem is, he hates it. First of all, it took me forever to get enough of those foam balls out that he'd actually think about stepping on it. I must have taken 90% of them out and mind you, it's not a neat process. And even now that he can physically sit on it, he hates it. I think it's in part due to the fact that when he steps on the bed it slides around on the hardwood floor. We have a Drs Fosters & Smith bed that was half the price our dog still sleeps on. Oh well. Apartment Therapy Chicago | High and Low: Dog Beds |

Bed Bath and Beyond has a nice selection of rods made by Cambria that we have in our LR and DR and are very sturdy. The end finials are optional (and extra) and some are too colonial for my taste, but they have simple clean rounds that are nice too. And they come in different finishes too. It has been a few years now, but we really enjoyed Sayulita when we visited in 2003 for 4 days. We stayed at Villa Amor and just had the most relaxing time falling asleep to the sound of the waves and waking to watch the surfers while having breakfast on the beach. Aaaah. It was small and underdeveloped without paved roads. Surely things have developed a bit since then, but even then, there were still quite a few delicious restaurant options in town. We saw some gorgeous homes along the coastline under construction. Apartment Therapy New York | Good Questions: Perfect House Escape in Mexico? |
