I love my Bakfiets! Slightly more pricey but so worth it. I can fit up to four kids plus shopping in my longer version and it still feels like a normal bike. Great resale value also for when my kids get older, although I can't imagine ever giving it up. I can handle the hills pretty well in it too.

The StarCraft mobiles are wonderful. Incredibly well made and beautiful.

I have one of these at my house. As we only ever park at the start of the drive (too hard to get the kids out next to the house) we pulled up all the grass and planted a fairly large vegie patch.

We were kept in vegies all summer and kept the neighbourhood entertained with the placement of our garden.

There must be a layer of jam involved somewhere for lamington perfection!

We do loads of gardening with our little girl. She is not quite two but more than able to dig small holes and press down the soil around plants for us. Her favourites are peas, snow peas and strawberries. Anything that she can eat straight from the garden.

We are also involved in a permaculture play group at our local community gardens. If you don't have much space yourself they are a great way to get your kids involved.

I would definately buy a house with those tiles!

Then again I did my own splash back with a massive Space Invader.

I have the original magazine this article appeared in. It is a stairwell underneath the higher loft bed. The owners (in particular the husband) did nearly everything in the house DIY. They've done a great job!
