I'm guessing the wood has an oil finish, which would mean they would have to re-oil it every now and then, but would be pretty easy to clean.

A 20k reduction from 495k is 4% down, not 10%. Is 600 per square foot the going rate in Clinton Hill?

I just installed 2 honeycomb shades. It took about 2-3 weeks for them to arrive. The installation with surprisingly easy -- it took about 10 minutes per window. I have ordered swatches in the past and they arrived quickly. I think I'm going to replace the curtains in my bedroom with honeycomb shades and will use S&N again. I'm a little apprehensive after the negative comments, but some people are never happy.

Any idea where the chairs at the kitchen table are from?

I have the same issue with reupholstering a couple of chairs. I did a search for airlay/fiber foam and found just futons. Any idea where one can find the material?

I've found that the plastic tops clog too much (like the one in the front-left), but that the metal ones work better (like the one in back). Either way, you need to dilute the liquid with about 1/3 to 1/2 water.

I have a similar dilemma (though less pressing as a coffee table is currently in my space). I like these two because they split the difference nicely - we use the extra storage below our coffee able for magazines and remotes.

The only issue is that they are both pricey... but maybe worth it.

Does anyone know of something similar in a lower price range?

We got lots of second-hand furniture. There are a few things that really should be new (car seat and mattress are two). Most everything else is fine second hand. Our neighborhood has a Yahoo group for parents that has tons of stuff available.

We are also taking the opportunity to detox our apartment. We're going to try seventh generation non-chlorine diapers as we didn't think cloth was going to be practical for us.

I've found that using ceiling fans allows us to leave our A/C on low when we need it.

On food, we're planning on skipping baby food and having the baby eat a mashed version of whatever we eat.
