Ditto Enoch's question! I am having a floor lamp/lighting problem in my living room and love yours! Where can I find one?

Kate's January Cure: My Fourth Week January Cure Diaries

Our semi-mountain home has wood walls in the living room. Not wide, verticle paneling but diagonal, thin, wainscotting which is angled differently on each wall, meeting in a dark corner. Problem is, on wall had a huge German shrank/shrunk(?) which I don't hate that hides TV and electronics. Getting a decent way to light the corner now is super-tricky, though. Most standing lamps come to can akward height next to the shrank and paper-lantern types look strange too. So for now I've a standing lamp with a bendy neck which isn't bad but its boring beige shade is. Has anyone tried RIT/fabric painting lamp shades? Any luck? I just can't find a good bright one which fits it.

Day 17: Looking at Living Room Lighting Apartment Therapy January Cure

My Cure energy is fading. My husband is not at all utilizing the landing strip, returned organized kitchen cabinets to their misshapen state, and somehow has more bathroom junk than I do. I have decided that even though I'm tired and in no mood to clear out bathroom cupboards, if I make myself do it anyway, I'll reward myself with a bath in our crappy tub (big project). And a drink. ;)

Day 16: Give Your Bathroom & Medicine Cabinets a Cleanout Apartment Therapy January Cure - Day 16

My media fast will have to be tomorrow. I'm still fixing yesterday's (this) project. It was simply replace handles on kitchen cabinets because, not loving the 80s oak and not having money to replace, we thought a handle update would be facelift enough. When I removed the dark once-brass(?) handles, the flourish design outline was left behind on nearly all cabinets. So I scrubbed, sanded, oiled, all to no avail and the new handles look horrid with the dirty outlines behind. So I spraypainted one of the old handles with Rustoleum Silver and while an improvement over the dirty brass, it still looked cheap. So I gave up and went to bed. This morning, I thought, black on the 80s oak shouldn't look bad since our fridge is black so on the way home, bought Rustoleum in Hammered Black. Am now waiting for the paint to dry (looks much better than the first round so far at least) and hope to get them back up before I have to go to bed and before husband gets home at midnight (he poo-poo'd spraypaint all along). So while I wait, I went ahead and started a full-oiling of cabinets and am on a wrist break before I wrap up with the peninsula. This is exhausting but I really hope it'll look so much better after I'm finished!

Day 10: Work on Your Goal Project Apartment Therapy January Cure

Buying an Ikea shoe holder six months back helped our entryway tons. Now to figure out what to do with husband's giant cooler and work bag which end up plopped inside. There is a coat closet but it's tiny. We'll have to think of something today!

Day 9: Create a Landing Strip Apartment Therapy January Cure

Since moving in with my husband a year and a half ago, I have been dying to throw a big soiree but the place has never been 'ready'. We've many projects always going and so this time, no excuses: we're having friends over. Collecting addresses/emails is amazingly hard so I haven't _sent_ mine yet but am aiming for second weekend of Feb. We'll be entertainers yet. :)

Day 7: Get Your Get-Together Together - Date, Guests, Invites Apartment Therapy January Cure - Day 7

Whew. I was dreading the kitchen and only halfheartedly organized the tea cabinet yesterday. But then felt guilty so today was the rest of the cabinets and the dreaded fridge all the way down to floors again and even scrubbing out the trash can. I really want a new one but this one fits well under sink and it did only require elbow grease to refresh it. I feel horrid about the food that was thrown out but how do I still have so many expired jellies. The fridge is bare now. We tried a new recipe last weekend so after all the work tonight, I think simple fried rice is on the menu tonight. I got the second wind after reading comments today so thanks for keeping me going, AT community!
