I love the variety of lamps chosen for the article. Here's one "for the books" about product exclusivity (not rehabbing): I purchased the tri-leg lamp (aka Cleo) at Horchow Collection because Howchow is known for unique items not available everywhere. Less than three years after they stopped carrying it, Crate and Barrel offered it to the world. The only difference in the two - the interior of the Horchow linen shade is lined with 50's-60's abstract ovals and "planet-like" shapes. I still love the lamp!

Coffee & The Works is a wonderful DC source for home and gift ideas. They have merchandise changes with each season; and it always contains unusual, yet useful, household items.
While window shopping at lunch a couple years ago, I saw a staff member putting final touches on window display featuring a 28" long oval Michael Graves-designed tray by Alessi. .
Although I'd never seen that serving tray, it was love-at-first sight whereupon I asked to buy it. To which the clerk responded without missing a beat, I knew that window displays drew customers into the store, but this has to be a record because it took 5 seconds from the time I finished the display. From that moment on, I've been hooked on Coffee & The Works for my place and gifts as well.

Horchow / Neiman-Marcus carried the exact same lamp as C&B's Cleo in their catalogue about four years ago, and I bought a pair for a "few" more dollars than the current C&B price. Much to my surprise, I walked into C&B recently and saw the Cleo lamp, which has one minor difference- the inside of the lamp shade is plain white. The Horchow / Neiman-Marcus lamp has a 1960's style random pattern of circles and ovals in brown, orange, and tan.

After doing research, I discovered that Maytag makes a set of 23' wide front-loading washer and dryer that can be stacked. Bosch is another company that has a comparable product too.
I chose the Maytag, because my parents and sister (with kids, husband, et.al.) both have Maytag and sang-its-praises to me. Nothing like positive tesimonials especially from people who you love and trust.
I have no regrets.... economical in terms of energy use, extremelyquiet, use less soap, more settings that the standard apartment stack top-loading washer with dryer on top.

Ivar -An elegant statement of taste and design in a small space. It would seem to me that people who have studio apartments "live" in the city, and relax and sleep in their apartment. I cannot imagine a more wonderful place to return to after work, and an evening with friends in a local restaurant. Your furniture is exquisite in its simplicity. You are to be appauded for your effort.
