Lemon oil! It's a natural disinfectant and the fresh scent should help too.

Make limeade! You could even make a concentrated version and freeze in small portions, then add fresh water when you want to drink it. Limeade all summer long :)

I love the wood but I would probably reupholster it in a bright, neutral, clean fabric to modernize it. Maybe a white or creamy linen fabric, no pattern?

I typically don't like pink but I actually think it works on this sofa. I agree that the color looks pretty loud when it's sitting there by itself, but I'm picturing it against white walls, with lots of other neutral, earthy colors and materials around it, and I think it would look soft and beautiful yet the pop of color would be dramatic and interesting. I might try to get them to come down on the price though. I probably wouldn't spend over $200.

I love this. I firmly agree with you. I'm always more than happy, excited even, to share recipes and kitchen tips and tricks. I was recently asked by a newlywed blog friend about my tips for making roast chicken. She followed them and her husband said it was the best roast chicken he'd ever had. It made me feel so good to have taught a friend how to make this beautiful, classic dinner that she'll hopefully make all her life, pleasing many of her family members and friends in the process.

When this happens to me I put the brown sugar in a bowl in the microwave next to a separate little bowl or cup with some water in it. The steam from the water softens the sugar.

We buy good quality 100% cotton sheets and I actually find they get better and softer and more luxurious with time!

What a great space! What about putting an upright piano in there (are your kids interested in lessons?). Or a long, narrow desk looking out over the view, if you don't already have an office space? I also love the idea of a few bookcases and a setee--mini library!
