Whaaaat my method has slowly morphed into the bundle method over time. I was feeling bad for straying from my rigidly roll-only upbringing. Snaps for me.

I think the incomplete look might look better if it ended lower down the wall and if the edge was made a bit rougher yet.

Oooooh man I love everything about this! I have the same shower curtain. Other than that, I have a lot of shopping to do.

Hah, I thought we were so original calling our disposable income "fun money". Turns out it's all the rage. We have our pay directly deposited into a joint account from which our recurring expenses are automatically debited and transfer a weekly portion to savings and a weekly "fun money" allowance into our own personal accounts each week. We originally took the fun money out in cash, but I've found that I'm actually more likely to spend it that way. I notice my wallet bulging after just one week of low spending, but little bits of savings creep up on me more when they're electronic. But I'm predisposed to keeping a tight belt; I could see this working the opposite way for someone who likes to spend.

My dog is a Rottweiler German shepherd mix who is thriving on two hours at the park after work and one half-hour jog in the morning. There's a jack russel in my building who recently got so bored that he lost it and ate through half a couch cushion. Dog personality, not size is what counts.

Going by breed alone isn't always accurate, especially when you're rescuing from a shelter and have no info on the dog's family history. There are several personality and temperament tests to help with that. That's how I ended up with the wonderfully lazy, people-pleasing mix I have now. I can't find the link now, but I found a tutorial through the humane society back when we were adopting. Of course using modern training techniques like positive reinforcement instead of Ceser Millan's outdated dominance approach helps, too (you'll have to excuse me, that's my soapbox issue).

I absolutely love this, and nearly every photo had something in it that made me go "you can DO that??". Nice to see different perspectives to learn from.

It is interesting to see what inspires you outside of the home-decor world to help understand your perspective as a designer better. Maybe an inspiration board with stuff like this could be in a separate part of the website? As a designer, I trust your home advice. I have other sources for fashion advice. I'd rather not sort through other topics when I need my home decor hit from Apartment Therapy in the morning.

I love it! Especially the bedroom textiles. Amazed he gets by without a crate for that pup. I don't plan on leaving mine alone with an Eames chair any time soon.

Am I the only one who loves the old grated ceiling to floor window to the staircase? The width of the grates doesn't look kid (or pet) friendly but I think I would have installed something more narrow rather than scrapping it altogether. I had something similar in my childhood home so it's probably just a weird quirk. Overall the kitchen looks lovely.

It's an interesting mix of (what to a renter of a tiny Toronto apartment seems) incredible opulence and miss matched rustic style. Bought two kitchen aid mixers but no two dining chairs match? Is that gigantic metal cabinet a second fridge? Look at all those (PAX?) wardrobes! AND ALL THAT SPACE! At first I didn't like it but going through all the photos it makes them seem more grounded. Like they invest in what they love and aren't trying too hard to give the overall appearance of luxury.

If you have enough light coming in from the shower window navy would be nice. I'm thinking something like this nautical bathroom Joanna Goddard had done.

What Color Walls with Red Shower Curtain? Good Questions

The absolute "no" on offices in the bedroom seems silly to me. In my last apartment I had a separate room for my office. It didn't have any natural sunlight, only a "window' into the living room. I felt awful after a day of work and my sleep suffered. I now have my desk right in front of my bed and I'm sleeping much better, thanks to the gigantic window that it's under. Now I get sunlight during the day and have a beautiful view to look out at during breaks. Well worth the sight of my monitor and a few pens as I'm dozing off.

I think the question of where to put the office has to be tailored to the specific person's needs. Particularly when a room as personal as the bedroom is concerned. For me the popular desk-in-a-closet arrangement would be the absolute no-no. For others my arrangement might not work. Why try to turn it into a hard and fast rule?
