For those who do go tile crazy, tile is amazing on the bathroom ceiling - it's incredibly easy to keep clean!

It's not just legend that eggs were used to help bind the mortar of Charles bridge! A few years back when flooding caused a lot of damage to the bridge, they took the opportunity to take samples of inner parts of the bridge dating to its origins before they restored the bridge as necessary. Testing of the samples found egg proteins.

I visited Prague in March and absolutely adored it. It's very easy to spend a few days there on a low budget.

I think I hate this. The water on the counter would drive me wild, as would the water spots left behind when it eventually evaporated. Also, the shape of the counter so the water runs into the sink... I would not want to work on that counter, ever.

I'm a "before" fan. I'd rather see what I have to work with instead of a row of white buckets.

Between my boyfriend and I, we have 2 dining chairs, 2 desk chairs (to go with 2 desks), 2 deck chairs and 4 folding chairs stuffed away for "just in case" (with a matching card table!). We live in a 2 bedroom condo. I think we have our chairs under control! Other furniture for seating simply consists of a sole sectional in the living room. :)

I don't own an ashtray, so no.

Yeah, my guests sleep on the couch, so... I doubt they'll be getting a vanity. That being said, my own sorely needs a makeover (as it's a rickety adopted computer desk and would probably make most readers of this site cry).

Laptop with internet, digital camera, cell phone (and that's only because I don't have a landline). Easy.

My cat would never set foot in one of these. She'd definitely prefer a cardboard box, like slowdown mentioned.

Glamorous Classic

You have a refined sensibility with an appreciation for history and tradition in your furniture and your rooms. You value beauty and craftsmanship. You are visually sensitive and understand how symmetry and a balanced layout give order to a room. But you definitely like to shake things up with some unabashed luxury and glamour to keep things from getting boring. You go for rich materials like velvets, one-of-a-kind objects, lady-like touches, glimmering accessories, and a sense of old-Hollywood romance that makes your home dramatic and elegant.

You value creativity. You are stylish and fun loving, and can be an inspiration to others. You have a natural sense of drama, and you know you have to be willing to take risks—whether with colors, finishes, furniture choices, or ideas—for your home to stand out. Your home can be happy and lively and the place all of your friends want to be.

Can't say I'm a fan of the mirror on a hook. A small mirror in the entryway is totally normal to me, though. I'm used to seeing them in a lot of households I visit.

More shelving! I still have boxes of books packed up from when I moved a year and a half ago, simply because there is no place to put them. I used to have enough shelving (barely), but when I moved in with the boyfriend... I had to learn to share!

I feel like this could be condensed quite a bit. Basically, what I get from this as suggestions are try using shelves, using baskets, building cubby holes in between studs and use storage solutions that go right to the ceiling. Oh, and leave the storage open if you want to show off your stuff, or cover it with a door if you want to hide it.

I think that it would be better if BH&G had grouped the similar examples instead of stretching it out. But hey, that could just be me. *shrugs*

I giggled today as I got a notice under my door from the management of the condo building I live in. It was a list of reminders and rules and whatnot, and one actually addressed shoes. It requested that you not wear them indoors, because of how much noise it generates for the people living below you. I, of course, thought of this discussion here.

When my boyfriend and I moved in together a year and a half ago, we had few duplicates. We made a deal, though: he gets to keep his hideous bed frame (that I absolutely loathe) and I rule pretty much everything else. This means (amongst other things) I get to put up my canvases and framed images on the walls, while striking down his awful posters.

I think the biggest key was patience. Without that, goodness knows how much more friction there would have been!

I've definitely seen worse - and am very much inclined to agree that your level of cleanliness is a reflection of your mental state. I find that very true in my personal scenario.

Here in Atlantic Canada, I've encountered all of one home where it wasn't standard to remove your shoes at the door.
