I sort my books by color. If it doesn't work for you, don't do it, but I don't understand why it bothers people. Personally, I know what color my books are and I never have trouble finding the one I want (I'm an academic and I have hundreds).

Inneedofmakeover,

I have a Room and Board near me, but they are few and far between. Their return policy, though, is pretty good--you don't get refunded original shipping fees, but you don't have to pay return shipping.

Crate and Barrel vs. West Elm Bed Quality: Which Is Better? Good Questions

When I was looking at beds, I looked at Crate and Barrel, West Elm, and Pottery Barn. I fell in love with a sleigh bed at Pottery Barn, but when I looked further into its construction, a lot of it was made with engineered wood, MDF, and/or particle board. For the money I would be spending, it just bothered me. I think the same can be said of a lot of furniture at Crate and Barrel and West Elm.

I ultimately bought a gorgeous solid wood bed made in Oregon, sold by Room and Board. It was the same price as the other beds I looked at, but the quality of the bed and Room and Board's service are fantastic. I couldn't be happier.
