Ditto on the comforter and shams. Can we get sources? So nice and romantic and soft.

The pitbulls in my neighborhood might want to lick you, but they sound like they want to eat your face off. That's probably enough to help scare away a would-be burglar.

My parents' leather sofa set is all scratched up too, so it does happen. Just be diligent about discipline and get your cats some scratchers. Sofa looks lovely, I'm jealous.

Why not ask the kids? I think they are creepy and depressing but I don't know if that precludes them from hanging in a kids room.

Keane Kids For Kids?

Telling someone to get rid of their pets is like telling them to get rid of their kids. It's not going to happen. Definitely get some cat scratchers and replace them regularly. I get the flat ones from Trader Joes, which our cats love.

I think the sofa in the pic is the Clare sofa from Macys. I have the Zen sofa set from Macys, and loved it in the beginning but the cushions have definitely softened up and aren't as firm as when we bought them, which makes me think it isn't going to last a lot longer.

We have three cats and I keep pillows and pet beds on the sofas to get their fur off when we aren't using them. I also throw the smack down when they so much as place a claw on the furniture.

We have a chocolate colored sofa with a thin-weil corduroy fabric, so its a total fur magnet. I cover the sofa in throw pillows at night, spaced with cat beds. They have no choice but to snooze in the beds when there are pillows covering the rest of the surface, so it mostly keeps the fur localized.

Are you insane? Peonies are my favorite: so wild and so graceful at the same time. I love their delicate scent as well. All the more for me, I guess.

Love the opulence and understated girliness. Definitely one of my faves!

I added this as a fave just because of your bedroom! I'd love to see more color on the walls in the rest of your place - it looks like you have the touch for it.

Very romantic. I was glad not to see an Eames Lounger for once :-) Seems like what an old apartment in New York should look like. Love the colors and all the mirrors.

I lived in SB for 12 years until last April when I moved to Fresno. I bought a house, which I could never have done in SB, but always dreamed of having my own little space like that close to the beach when I spent all of my time with roommates in a 4 bed house. Lovely, and lucky you.

My bedroom has windows on three wallss. N, W, and S. facing. It definitely helps to wake up to natural light, and since our windows are old (1924), I usually wake up to the sounds of the birds chirping or squirrels chattering in our back yard. And yeah, I love my bed and soft sheets too. A

Love the home, especially the window nook, built-ins, and window detailing. Just lovely.

@lady J, I assumed it somehow converted into a two-person bed or was adaptable to one, since the description says "Sofa, single bed, bed for two and storage in one piece of furniture." and recommends the foam or latex mattress if intended to be used as a double bed. It's hard to know without seeing it and the description and pictures aren't very helpful.

Flexible Bedroom Staple: Daybeds

I want one for our office/guest room, but prefer it be large enough for two to sleep in. This IKEA daybed has been on my list for a long time for its multi-functionality, but I haven't seen it in person and don't know if it would work well for two people and as seating for the office: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30080316

Flexible Bedroom Staple: Daybeds

I never knew how much sound kept me from sleeping (always had a hard time falling asleep) until I lived on party-heavy street in Santa Barbara for college and started using ear plugs to block out the music, people, drunkards on school and work nights. I'd wake up in the morning amazed that I didn't even remember falling asleep it happened so quickly. I usually would pull the plugs out in the middle of the night, if they didn't fall out themselves, so missing an alarm was never an issue for me. I also like it to be very dark and very cool, with warm covers to control my temperature. Though, now that I've moved in with my boyfriend and our combined three cats, I can't remember a night when I didn't wake up at least once from some creature crawling on me or fighting for bed space and covers. It's worth it, I suppose, but sometimes I long for the days when I would lock my cat out of my room and have the bed to myself :-)

And like a previous commenter is hoping, our family came earlier in the day and it turned into a party for us and our friends later that night. We made it worth it too - lots of food and drinks for our guests.

Do You Throw Housewarming Parties?
3/10/11 1:08 PM

I've moved in and out of apartments and houses since college, and it never occurred to me to have a house-warming. This past August, my boyfriend and I bought our first house together, and mostly at the suggestion of family, we hosted a house-warming party a month after we moved in. We didn't register or ask for gifts, but of course they came. I wouldn't think of having such a party if we were to buy a new house someday, but there is something about "the first one" that makes it special and worth hosting your friends and family for.

Furry Bedfellows: Do You Sleep with Your Pet?
NY Times

I had one cat that wasn't allowed to sleep in my room at night until we moved in with my boyfriend and his two cats, who get to do whatever they want. Now they all three sleep in/on the bed with us, which leaves me kicking cats off the bed when they prowl around in the middle of the night or try to come too close to my face. If they just stayed at the foot, it'd be ok, though still restricting (I am a delicate sleeper ;-) The concessions we make for relationships...
