You could buy a longer frame (like this one from Ikea http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20243540/) and have a mat cut to fit the frame/fabric at your local craft store wich will run you $5-$15. All and all not bad for a "customized" frame.

I can't tell the difference between the finishes from the photos, but maybe you could spray paint one (or both) so the finishes match? Other than that I don't think it is so necessary to have matching curtain rods.

ah, so adorable! How crafty, I wonder how difficult it was to remove the tv and it's components.

I like the idea of a painted celling, but perhaps not the same color. I've seen (on design shows) where a lighter tint of the wall color is used on the ceiling. It was a nice way to avoid the basic white ceiling without giving off that "cave vibe."

I moved out of an apartment last year, and two of my three roommates stayed. It is weird every time I visit them, the furniture is completely different and the general atmosphere is different. Frankly I liked it better when I lived there. It feels less like a home and more like a place where they sleep and put there stuff.

I just painted a cabinet a nice gray-teal color and a nice bright pink inside! Sounds tacky but I assure you it is quite lovely in person!
