Terrific job. I think your decor captures that 60s nostalgia via our grandparents preserved (frozen in time) homes perfectly. I think it must be the viney houseplants that do it. I instantly thought of my grandparents home when I saw your place (and that's a good thing). And you didn't over do it either. Very streamlined and well organized. I like that you keep your robot collection contained and displayed in an elegant wooden cabinet. If I may make one suggestion: the couch looks a little crammed up against the window wall. I know the space must be tight and options limited, but maybe you could switch the TV and the couch. I do like how you've arranged the eames chairs.

First: kudos to Vanessa. Great job on the apartment. But I have to say the photographer didn't do you any favors. A blurry close-up of the shower curtain?! I know a lot of people would love to work for AT and this type of photography just doesn't show the the place to its full advantage. By the way, the photos aren't arty or avant garde. They're just frustrating!!!! Thanks again to Vanessa for sharing her beautiful home and pitch perfect sense of style.

I moved to SF last November and made the mistake of going downtown on Black Friday. People thronged the street--I don't think I've ever see such a mass of humanity in one place. My vote is with those staying home, enjoying their day off and feasting on leftovers. Take a hike or go to the beach but I repeat avoid the retail sector altogether!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I adore patchwork quilts. These examples, however, are not my taste.

Nightstands are very hard to find. I finally found a beautiful set of hardwood cherry nightstands for $40 on Craigslist after searching for over three months. A pair of nightstands is extremely hard to find. I used a pair of wooden ikea folding chairs as nightstand placeholders. They kinda looked good in a creative, nontraditional way.

Amazing. I love it. I, too, live in a very small studio and find it suits my needs very well. I'm always warm and cozy (small spaces hold heat better) and I can clean my entire apartment in less than 45min. I enjoyed not only the space but the decor. Well executed without seeming staged. Nice job.

I agree, MoxyThunder. I liked the original aubergine color.

I like built-ins, however, I have to make a comment about the decorative typewriter in the lead pic. For some reason, using old typewriters as knick-knackery REALLY annoys me. If the typewriter was actually being used or even if it was just on a desk, then I wouldn't have a problem with it. Okay, I got that out. I just had to mention my annoyance at seeing typewriter decor.

Amazing!!!! This would be a dream house for children. (If you haven't watched Bergman's Fanny and Alexander, you should. There's a wonderful scene where a boy wanders through an antique shop filled with hand made puppets, etc. Such a dreamy, magical quality to that scene and, similarly, to your house). And I wholeheartedly agree with your lighting advice--overhead lighting is inefficient. I use lamps in the different corners of my apartment and find it illuminates the space quite well. I probably could spend hours exploring your apartment. Your friends are right--you should open it to the public as a museum.

I really loved the grandfather clock, the gold (brass?) chandelier, the small sofa by the entrance way and the framed maps. However, the remainder of the furnishings were a little too "mature" for me. The porcelain dogs on the mantel were also nice. Its funny that the items in this tour that I like, I really like, however everything else is far from my taste. The kitchen is of course, wonderful. But I don't understand all the various seating/dining areas. I suppose this would be a dream house for entertaining. I'd suggest moving the sofas further apart in the main living room and removing the stools from under the painting. I'd also get rid of the heavy wardrobe.

Oh, but I think it is. Eames is not untouchable and not to everyone's taste. I suppose seeing it constantly in house tour after house tour tarnishes it a bit in my eyes. It seems more well suited for a child's room. Different strokes for different folks!

Too kitschy/gaudy for my taste. I currently use a coat closet and if I didn't have that I would use a traditional wood and brass coat rack or install brass hooks in a stained wood plank on the wall. Simple and decidedly not fussy. I really dislike the multicolored ball rack. I just don't understand the appeal of this fad.

I hardily agree with the shoes-off crowd. I live in a studio apartment in the city and cannot understand wearing dirty shoes in the house. Also, I cringe when I see people in movies or on TV wearing their shoes in bed or on the couch. Do people really do this in real life. Gross!
